Riku has the ability to "sense" darkness in others due to his acceptance of the darkness inside of his own heart and his choice to walk the path between the light and darkness. Basically, he can sense how much darkness or light is in your heart.

A one would mean a character is completely pure of heart. No one however, can reach

Yoruichi is probably about a four. Because she's technically a good person, and helps others, but not always uses means that are seen as such.

Itachi would be a six. He's doe a lot of bad things, but for good intentions, even if it never seems like that.

Rikku is not a bad person, at all. Even is she's had to go through lengths that were seen as 'evil' by others to save summoners. So I might rate her as a 3 of 4.

Light/Darkness Level?: Hnngh. I don't know how to measure these characters with light and darkness, but if I had to guess I'd say Hitsugaya is probably about a 5-6, and Killua is probably around 7. Hitsugaya usually has very selfless intentions, but the moment he gets angry, it's time to whack-a-bitch. Killua is a killer by nature although he tries to fight it, but Adstring has zapped away a lot of his motivation to do so.
