Aw, I love your text though! You always make those handwritten fonts work in your icons which baffles me to no end because handwritten fonts are so difficult to manage. So I'm always HOW DO YOU DO THAT.
Bless you! You have no idea how much that comment means to me sweetie! *hugs* I've always thought handwritten fonts was the easy bunch to handle. XD everyhting else was a mystery lol.
Your post helped alot. I'm doing an icon battle right now and it's going to TEXT in alot of them. XD
Aw, of course! ♥ Credit where credit is due, tbh, and you are the best with those handwritten fonts which is quite the skill, imo! & I am totally looking forward to the results of this battle!! :D
I feel like I've looked at a lot of text tutorials, guides and inspiration posts and still can't get the hang of it. However, your guide kind of worked as an inspiration for this icon. I recently cleaned up my bookmarks and stumbled over that exact post you linked :D This post is great! Saving it as well^^
Thanks! It was hard to think of a good text to put on it, even though there was enough space available on the icon. Even when I listen to music, nothing from the lyrics seems to fit.
I totally get that. I usually go for quotes from the show/movie because that's easier than trying to make song lyrics fit. But I know...I think it was wickdshy who said that she keeps a little notebook or something to jot down song lyrics that sound good so that when you're iconning later, you have a word bank to choose from. I've never done that myself because I'm too scatterbrained, but it seemed like a good idea!
When I'm iconning and don't have a quote in mind, I usually just think about mood and piece together words based on that. For example, this icon that I made for the IAM gift battle isn't a quote or song lyrics (that I know of anyway), but I was working with the idea of loyalty and the relationship between John and Sherlock being characterized by John sort of...guiding Sherlock to be better. And then I had a texture (that you can't see tbh) that had a star burst on it so I just pieced together something lyrical sounding from those prompts. And I know the text you've used in the icon above comes from a popular saying, but

this is great and lovely and i feel like iconning now, because text, and there's some of this tutos i hadn't seen so, gonna check later cause text. (also, that thg graphic is amazing. great choices all together <3 and thanks for including one of mine in these too <3)
I think I cheated a little bit with THG graphic as I am fairly certain it is actually hand drawn, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut it is still text so. it can still be inspiring. XD And I am so in love with the text on that icon of yours, tbh. Never got over it Text on close crops can be so hard to do, and you just nailed the crap out of it!!
TEXT. TEXT. ALL THE TEXT. (it's one of theparts I enjoy the most!)
I know, I figured, but in any case it's still amazing and gorgeous and i don't care XDXD Awww thanks, I LOVE trying text on close crops, is one of the most challenging things, but it looks so nice when it works!
I wholeheartedly agree with this post and all the beauties that are living proof of how great text can be (I can't stop gaping at that Hannibal Tumblr fanart). TEXT IS EVERYTHING. ♥
TEXT IS, INDEED, THE BEST! Tbh, I could have easily have had more of your icons in that section of the post because your text is endlessly inspiring to me, and I am so glad you icons prompted me to work with the warp tool in earnest because that's super fun! :D Also, yes, that Hannibal edit is one of my FAVS. Everything about it is so cool and unique, and I am so sad that the maker doesn't edit more often because DANG.
