I always get a kick out of the 'open source' vs 'closed source' Argument. There are good points, and bad points to both. And being a general geek, I am constantly torn between the two paths, especially since MS products are so expensive. However, I think that This Article sums up what I keep trying to say quite eloquently.

To be fair, I've run into pleeeeeeeeeeeenty of know-it-all closed minded closed-source advocates too.

oh certainly, I'm not saying that there aren't bigots in every corner, nor that they are any less bigotted than the open source crowd. There are high levels of stupid in every corner. And the closed source is no exception.

My point, really, is that for a community that prides itself on being helpful, and open, they rarely ever actually hit that mark. Most of the time it's hours of fruitless searching, and if you ask the question, you get a vague answer that assumes you already know far more about the product you are working in, and even more a high level of linux administration (Which is good to have, but someones got to start at the bottom at some time.) Not to mention there is a general level of snobbery that comes from that crowd often. A "I am better than you, because I know 'nix."

I won't say I like linus yet, any more than I like windows at least. But both have their ups and downs.
