The best thing about kittens is their tiny, tiny paws. They look so dainty and delicate, and they feel like velvet. Cats are revered in Arabasta, and it's great to have so many around. I find it quite relaxing, in a way ( Read more... )

They're absolutely adorable! And that's good to hear; I've heard stories of mother cats rejecting their kittens altogether.

I keep considering it, but I'm not sure if it will reach him securely. I guess I'm also a little worried as to what his course of action will be, too.

D'you have cats back home? Of your own, I mean.

Hm. If he doesn't send word, I guess we'll hear from the papers. Can't do much, unless you want us to announce we kidnapped you. Which we could do.

We don't any more. I remember when I was little, we used to have one, but after he grew old and died, we never got another. He had belonged to my mother, you see, so I think my father thought he would be betraying her memory if he replaced her cat so quickly.

I would much rather be thought of as one of you than as your kidnap victim, but... I just don't know what would be best for the crew, and for Arabasta. I think that whatever we do, we will face problems further down the line from it.

Given that they are venerated in your country, do cats therefore have a symbolic significance?

I would agree with the suggestion that you attempt to contact your father.

It's partly because they are quite cunning animals, and keep pests such as rodents away: Arabasta is a desert country and crops do poorly enough as it is, so cats were thought to bring good luck to farmers, and this line of thinking has since spread to other occupations. On top of this, the Sea Cats, an endagered species, have chosen the waters around Arabasta as their home, and have become a symbol to the country of something more important than ourselves which we should strive to protect.

Yes, I think it's best that I do. I'm still unsure of what to say, though. Whatever I say, I think it will bring more trouble for the crew.

A respectable outlook to have, regarding these animals.

This may be inevitable.

Thank you; it's a part of our tradition that I am very proud of.

Maybe so, but... I just don't want to cause trouble for anyone.

You successfully "disappeared" once. The Government need not know more than that.

...That is true. I guess the difference here is how high profile the Straw Hats are in the eyes of the Government; we were completely under the radar that time.
