Character: Prince Soma Asman Cadart
Fandom: Kuroshitsuji
Survival Horror Test: Honestly, Soma's best contribution would probably be morale and the fact that he's a little ray of sunshine. He's physically able, but more of a pacifist and when not he tends to have others do the fighting for him. I doubt he'd be eager to put his fighting skills to much test other than in a playful competition. Being a Prince, he's still incapable of many of the simplest tasks, however I don't doubt he could learn them over time and though he uses most of this knowledge to order others to do the tasks he does have some medical knowledge when it comes to nursing the sick and possibly the injured back to health.
Personality: Sheltered for seventeen years of his life, Soma learned and grew a lot as a person in a short amount of time. Surrounded by servants to fulfill his every desire, he never knew, and never had to know the issues of others. Because of this, he was very self-centered and self-entitled to the point of arrogance. He would act haughty and smug. He saw himself as someone with no flaws, and if he had no flaws, then everyone else must have been at fault. Also, because he never had to deal with any of the problems those in a lower caste had to deal with, he had a tendency to overexaggerate the ones he did have. These flaws were never pointed out to him, so Soma lived in blissful ignorance.
That changed, and he began to change, the moment Sebastian pointed out the facts to him, an important one being that even though he may have sensed something to be wrong with the people he supposedly cared for, he had never bothered to figure out what or help. Typical of his brattiness, Soma would react in anger and denial until he begins to understand the vast differences between his small issues and the problems of others such as Ciel and his servants. Now, Soma's gift of being able to be innocently observant has been awakened. He is still naïve and often very stubborn about things, but has made an effort to pay attention to the wellbeing of those around them. It turns out he's actually quite perceptive of some things, though is still easily fooled by something as simple as a well practiced smile and compliment. Soma has always been enthusiastic, and this hasn't changed with the other personality changes. He is still bossy and demanding, instead often utilizing it in attempts to fret over others, and he is still just as playful as ever. Lastly, Soma is very confident in himself and optimistic, and despite some ego bruising that hasn't really faded. After all, he strongly believes that if he says it, it'll happen!
Timeline: Post Chapter 38 of the manga.
Powers/Abilities: Soma has no supernatural powers, though he does command the faith over Agni so strongly that his butler can fight on par to Sebastian. As for Soma himself, he is skilled in Kalaripayattu and Silambam, so he isn't completely defenseless.
History: Soma was born the 26th son of the king of the Bengal royal house. Like many children in similar positions, the attention he garnered was mostly from his servants and not from his parents. However, no one was honest with him, as that was what was expected of them. Because of his importance, and the fact that he was fawned over, he grew accustomed to everything going his way. Whenever a small thing happened to go wrong, he would blow it out of proportion, or he would find the flaws in his life and focus on them, blaming others. One servant he particularly grew close to was a woman by the name of Meena. Childish infatuation soon grew, and Soma believed she loved him back, though this was far from true.
However, Meena is just one of the two important people in his past. Another, who is also significant to his present, would be his butler Agni. Like Soma, he was a noble too. Unlike Soma, it led him down a dangerous path. Just as he was about to be executed, Soma rescued him. Soma's only interest in him was for a sparring partner after all the rumors he had heard of his strength, but he was an important factor in turning Agni's life around. Agni became his personal butler, and Soma discovered Agni's true talent, curry.
At one point, Meena disappeared. Soma, oblivious, believed she had been kidnapped by an English noble who had arrived around the same time. Agni by his side, he left India to go to England, searching for West and Meena in hopes of rescuing her. Agni found out the truth before Soma did. As it turned out, Meena had snuck away and left him, sick of Soma's arrogance and ready to break out of her caste. She was in love with Lord West, who happened to be an English noble. Crushed, Agni made a pact with Lord West that if he worked for him and attacked certain British citizens and won a curry cooking contest and received the royal warrant, they would keep the truth of Meena from Prince Soma. Aware Agni had been sneaking out at night, Soma decided to tag along with Sebastian, Ciel and Lau to follow Agni and find out the truth. Misunderstanding once there, Soma confronted West and Agni, believing his butler had betrayed him. Under West's orders, Agni was supposed to harm Soma, however Sebastian intervened and they left.
Back at Ciel's, Soma threw a tantrum. Since a tea set was damaged, it was the last straw for Sebastian, and the turning point for Soma. Knowing what a brat he was, and knowing what Ciel had been put through, Soma vowed to be a better man.
When Ciel intended to get the royal warrant his and Soma's goals became intertwined. Unfamiliar with traditional Indian curry, Soma gave him advice and criticism on how to be on par with Agni's cooking skills. On the day of the contest, Sebastian and Agni both presented impressive examples of curry, but it was Sebastian who won. It was then Meena ran to comfort West, right in front of Soma's eyes. At first, Soma was ecstatic to be reunited with her, but that joy soon turned to sadness as Meena verbally lashed out at him and revealed the truth Agni went put so much effort in to keep from his ears. Normally, he may have thrown a tantrum, but Soma had began to change, and he accepted it maturely...for the moment. He broke into tears soon after, but he and Agni had reconciled. Soma stubbornly decided to stay in England along with Agni until he became a better man, and accepted the offered job to earn his own money taking care of Ciel's townhouse in London so that Ciel could avoid some contact with him.
Soma's role in the story becomes supportive now, but he does end up helping nursing Ciel back to health after an asthma attack. When Ciel and Sebastian stay at Ciel's townhouse, he also ends up meeting Ciel's fiancee, Elizabeth. Otherwise, he is happy to work, continue his efforts to become a better man and learn more about the real world, at least more than what he knew before. That's when he arrives here.
