Character: Princess Zelda
Fandom: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Personality:
Zelda is a princess. She's royalty. She's composed and articulate and doesn't cut corners. She speaks sternly and when she questions someone, it is direct and though polite, it carries heavy meaning. She is well-mannered and trained in high degrees of etiquette as any royal-born daughter would, even skill with a sword and bow. Zelda is obviously not the princess locked up in the tower, crying for a hero to rescue her. True she is locked away by Zant and Ganondorf, but she does not have much choice to concede with her kingdom threatened under destruction.

Zelda is selfless and compassionate. She puts others before her and even sacrificed herself to save Midna. She allowed Zant to lock her in a tower in Hyrule Castle so that he would spare her people. She was surprised and relieved when she met Link and tried to help him as much as she could. She put her neck on the line in order to assist Link and surely if her deception to the Twilight was discovered by Zant, she would have been on the chopping block.

Zelda can appear aloof and sharp-tongued sometimes, as well as witty and words overlying with a tinge of sarcasm, but she is not always in these moods. She is quick and to the point when she acts. True, she is still young and a little naive, but she carries great faith in those she cares about and wants to do right by them. She'll do whatever it takes to help those with whom she allies, even if it means a dear cost to her. The means of everyone else weigh more in regards to importance than her own single life. That she let Zant lock her away in a tower in the castle is proof to this fact. That she also threw her life down for Midna is another prime example of selflessness and compassion.

Zelda isn't immune to fallacy however. She's prone to being overwhelmed by guilt and realization of her fate. She resigned herself to a doomed existence within Hyrule Castle for the good of her people before Link came along. She also accepted the burden of her royal title playing a part in the situation within what Zant place Zelda's kingdom. She doesn't shy away from her own burdens, rather she accepts them and the weight of them on her shoulder. There is solemnity and wisdom to her disposition and she resigns herself to be just and honest. She wants to be a good monarch and be of use to her people, not a simple political prop. She believes whole-heartedly in the good of her people.

Though she is a stern young lady, Zelda does have a girlish way to her. She smiles. She laughs. She cracks a smile when someone does something amusing. Even with the weight of wisdom on her mind, Zelda is able to maintain a childish side that could take her from a stern ruler one minute, to a gleeful, ice-cream eating young child in the next. As princess, she hasn't been far from Hyrule, and is curious of the places beyond her kingdom. But, as princess, she is aware that she has duties to Hyrule and cannot up and leave for her own exploits. She is content to learn from books and people what she desires to know.

Abilities:
Zelda possesses the Triforce of Wisdom. It’s influence makes Zelda wise beyond her years. It also enables her to calm people with ease than any average ordinary person would. She can project barriers and wards that can block attacks and even deflect the power ten-fold. They need constant renewing, however. One of her most powerful abilities is Nayru’s Love, a very powerful shield that appears as a big transparent blue diamond around her form. It is temporary but it deflects almost all powerful attacks.

Farore’s Wind allows Zelda to traverse over short distances with quick speed. Din’s Fire allows her to conjure a ball of flames to her hands that she can control and manipulate. It can also transform into a red dome of fire around her as a secondary shield.

Zelda also can heal people with great skill. However, this is also her most power-sucking ability, as it leaves her tired and worn depending on the amount of healing she distributes. If the injury is a large, but her arrival is timely, she can heal the fatal wound with no issue, but be bed-ridden for several hours after.

She is also incredibly skilled with a bow and arrow and a novice at best with a sword, though she's not quite skilled with a sword and may perhaps drop it from the sheer weight of the weapon.

Sample writing:
The night was chilly outside Hyrule's royal castle. The windows were latched and the shutters were drawn. The fire in the hearth of Zelda's own royal suite burned on forest cut wood and flint sparks from the castle's kitchen. Her Royal Highness, Princess Zelda sat upon her raised bed, wrapped in several cozy blankets, looking into the parchment before her at the top of the bed. It detailed, with spoiled cursive and ebony ink, the orders of the council, for Zelda's coronation.

Soon she would be Her Royal Majesty, Queen Zelda. The decorations and invitations were already sent and received, and those who responded were already boarded in, or near the castle and nearby town. Dignitaries from far off had arrived for the occasion of Zelda's coronation. It was almost too fantastic to believe. But the ornate decorations and arranged flowers with the expensive catering and braided ropes were a reality when Zelda stepped through the halls of the castle.

I am going to be Queen. Din, Farore, and Nayru!

Her heart sped a little when she thought of her mother, her father, grandmother, grandfather, all brilliant rulers, and at this young age, she, their dear Zelda, would become Queen of all Hyrule. Before nobles, council, dignitaries, and townspeople alike--their Hylian Queen Zelda.

I will work hard to earn their fealty.

She clasped her hands together, letting out a relieved sigh. Shedding a few blankets from her shoulders, she move from the bed to a cozy spot before the hearth. She brought her hands towards the flames and rubbed her palms together, generating warmth. Zelda closed her eyes, turned her chin up, and relaxed.

Mother, Father, all the Kings and Queens before me...I hope to make you proud.

Sample journal entry:
[Zelda tightens the tie around her ponytail. It has to be tight, or it will come undone later on. And she can't have that, oh no. Tonight she's finally being allowed to take the lead, and she can't let any distractions get to her.

Checking her bow and arrows, she smoothes her finger over the wood finish of her bow, then stores it in its sling. She then checks her crown (still in proper place) then her boots. Everything is strapped and tightened. All she needs is her cloak...

Moving across the room, she comes to the table where her cloak is laid out next to her PDA and its pen. Zelda takes her cloak and wraps it about her like a shroud. As she glances at the pin to clasp the cloak together, she spots the device. Fingers moving from the clasp to the PDA, Zelda opens to a blank page. She takes the pen up and starts to write.]

I had thought that my time here would be incredibly difficult. This is nothing like Hyrule. The faces, the creatures, the voices...all very different. They both excite me in certain ways and distress me. I am not foreign to hunting or to fending for myself, but I am foreign to the extremes of which we've gone to in order to survive.

My friends are my greatest concern, and I hope that helps one another. Especially the new arrivals. May they find shelter and safety with new friends.

To those of the hunting party, I wish to convene tonight before the outing tonight. The creatures are becoming more restless by the rise of the night, and we need to restock our weaponry.
