It's that time of year, where I'm basically distracted from everything else by new and returning TV. Here's a rundown of what I've watched
( Read more... )
I rather agree so far about agents of shield, rather I hate just about every character on the show so far and there comes a time when you want to tell them all to shut the hell up - rly did not appreciate the way that first episode went down.
I'm rather aware of people wanting to give things time (I give shows at least 2-3 episodes to become "good" or at least start making some gd sense.)
That being said I'm going to be the voice of dissent when it comes to Sleepy Hollow rounding back on the point of "start making some damn sense" which it is not and much as I do love Orlando Jones. I feel that even Mr. Jones can't save this when the premise, interesting as it is, collides with scripting that's crap - compared to him the rest of the characters and cast seem like mewling brats. The guy playing Ichabod isn't bad but again the scripting itself becomes an issue IMO.
I'm actually going to watch one more episode of Agents of SHIELD, mostly because I'm watching the numbers for it and I'll want to know if there's an actual uptick in quality if there's an actual uptick in numbers. But unless it's amazing, I'm out after the third ep, I've got way too much TV to watch.
Re: Sleepy Hollow -- I do think it's embraced a certain level of insanity so far but I'm okay with that and I find the characters likable and I think it's awesome to see a show focus on its female lead's emotional journey the way they've done with Abbie. I really want to see where they go with Jennie, too. I think the last episode was legitimately scary, too, but I'm pretty much a wuss so that's probably not the best indicator of its scare factor. XD
I'm with you on the one more episode for MAOS. The movies for obvious reasons were of much better quality. I think the only people I've liked on the show so far was Clark Gregg's character and Ming-Na Wen's everyone else was just bland, boring, and uninteresting.
I'm actually still pissed about having the "yay" of seeing August Richards on MAOS being replaced by the "wtf" of shooting the black guy and the character going out of character psycho anyway especially with his child in the vicinity. Everyone else - again - bland, uninteresting, and could care less if they died.
Sleepy Hollow: I will give one more shot because, yes, Jennie did seem interesting. Abbie, the other characters, and the scripts need a lot more work however.
Having just watched the first season of Revenge (yes, I know I'm behind), I'm happy to hear (1) there's a third season already ready and (2) it's looking to be better than the second season - which I haven't seen yet, but when I do, it's good to know the third will be ... less messy?
For a long time, I loved Sherlock and Elementary almost equally, except that (as you noted) for Sherlock, one season equals three episodes, while for Elementary, one season equals 22.
Agents of SHIELD ... I'm not sure if it could ever have lived up to people's expectations, but it sort of feels like they might have tried a bit harder? (Especially when it comes to stuff like casting.)
