I realized last night if I deliberately eat only half of what I would have, I get a "free" meal when I eat the leftovers. Sounds dead obvious, but there we are. maybe I will lose the weight i need to lose as a bonus. The amazing thing is that the money saving aspect is motivating but the weight loss aspect is not.(maybe because if is more ( Read more... )

for a while me and my kids were sort of on the poor peoples diet. We have moved up to Middle class diet now - but both will make you fat. only the rich can afford to eat 'healthy'

You're right. Fresh fish and veggies cost. If I could get every on bulk grains and beans from the health food store, I'd be better off. But no one will touch them. We also pay 3 times the price for kosher meat and cheese. Worth it. Just hard on the budget.

I can barely afford to feed my family. We do the bulk thing whenever there is a bonus or the tax return comes in - and that lasts us for months, but foodwise, it's whatever is on sale, whatever is cheapest.

I miss Glenn. His show is so upbeat. I am glad he changed the format. I rely on his humor. Stu sounds cut, btw.
