Yeah it is.

Does your laptop have a wireless card? If so, then there are some extra options, such as getting a wireless access point.

You will want to get 1 of these:

Linksys Wireless Access Point with 4 wired port:

Linksys EtherFast 5-Port 10/100 Workgroup Switch:

I'd stick with Linksys, yet you don't have to. I'd avoid Netgear, since I've had problems with their wireless access points.

And like what oneworldvision says, you will need some ethernet cables. Make sure you get one or two that are long enough.

With a router and an ethernet cable.

You need to set up a network. There should be books at the library that can help you; I think my dad used Networking For Dummies or something similar.

I'm not sure what you mean. Did you want to network the pc and lap top or just connect the lap top to road runner? If it's the latter then yeah, like somebody else said, merely use the handy dandy ethernet cable. When I was home I just connected the cable that went into the home pc into the lap top and it worked fine. If the notebook comes with a wireless card and you plan on using wireless, it gets a bit more tricky.
