You've got some good books on the list, though the appearance of Charlaine Harris is a little disappointing. :P

What did you think of God's War and the Attolia books?

I really love the Attolia books, and hope she writes more someday.

I just googled God's War so I could make sure I was spelling character names correctly in this response...and lo and behold learned that I am an idiot because I hadn't realized there are sequels. That kind of solves my feeling like the ending needed something more... *face palm* It took me a little while to get used to the world (the insect magic threw me a bit at first, lol), but I liked that it was showing strong female characters and offers diversity.

SPOILERS FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T READ GOD'S WAR:

I don't want Nyx and Rhys to end up in a romantic relationship, but I would very much like them to get back to the point where she can call him when troubled, and he will read poetry to her until she calms down. I found that scene terribly touching.

Yes, I'm that mushy. This really should not surprise anyone!

I'll check out the Attolia books then.

Yep, there are sequels. I think Infidel is the best of the Bel Dame Apocrypha and it was one of my top reads from a couple years ago. I won't say much except that I don't think you'll be too disappointed.

PS--Charlaine Harris is my popcorn reading. Plus, she always seems very sweet when I see her at conventions.
