Isms

My life certainly seems to be full of "isms" just recently. 
It's nice in a way. They don't tend to be sparkly or quite as interesting as epiphanies or mysteries or the various other "ies" that I have found my life full of at times, but there's a density to them I can appreciate, like the comfort of a firm mattress.

Skepticism is doing more to keep me open minded and to quell my judgementalism than any half baked spiritual system or pseudo-psychological technology.

Awesome. It sounds like academia is working pretty well for you. Just remember these moments of contentment (pleasure?) when the stresses, bureaucracy, etc. begin weighing you down.

Also, the metaphor for mind as a non-Newtonian fluid or, even better, a Holtzman Shield, is so cool.
