It’s the night of the new moon, and there’s a gap in the stars where the dark circle lurks near the horizon. The stars are impossibly close, as it’s an impossibly clear night, and it’s so dark that the boys each nearly forget whom they are kissing, and allow themselves to enjoy it.
When they pull apart, it’s all Remus can do not to whisper Sirius’ name. Oddly, it’s the same for Regulus. There’s still a bit of spit on Remus’ lip, and Regulus notices it glinting in the impossibly faint starlight, and curls his lip in a perfect sneer.
