Quidditch parties are difficult, because everyone wants to get drunk, but no one wants to lose control. In the end, the Slytherins slide through the room, taunting and victorious, and fondle smooth crystal with expensive alcohol, until they slip away, discreetly.
Then, safe, or as safe as they can reasonably feel there, in school, in the midst of serpents just like them, they drink cheap, hard spirits in the company of themselves, or the occasional trustworthy friend.
Regulus is old blood, however. And when Lucius beckons to him, it doesn’t matter that he’s sober; this feeling of elitism is better.
