The Season Of Need

Nov 27, 2005 19:55

Regulus leaned back in his seat, the front legs of the chair a short distance away from the surface of the floor. His eyes were fixed upon the thoughts flowing through his shielded head. How interesting it was, given the right amount of concentration, one could mute out dreams, fantasies, even ideas to his or herself. Perhaps that was why ( Read more... )

Carolyn desperately needed something to do; something to keep her occupied before dinner, something to keep her from bouncing off the walls. She was starting to believe that maybe the treacle-eating contest had been a bad idea, but at least she won. She could almost feel the sugar from the treats bursting through her veins, it caused the bounce in her step to be greater; the glow in her eyes to be brighter and the colour in her face to be quite a bit more crimson then usual.

The halls seemed empty, every turn seemed to be deserted Where is everybody? She eventually gave up her aimless search and entered the great hall expecting to see crowds, but again there were barely any students. The Gryffindor and Ravenclaw tables were completely deserted and the her own table seemed to hold a large mob of 7th years who were eating all sorts of sweets, which could have proved dangerous had Carolyn decided to join them. She decided against the chances and turned her attention to the only table left, sitting alone at the long Slytherin table was ( ... )

Sabrina was terribly bored and fidgeting with the tie-dye ribbon in her hair. She slowly tilted her head to either side letting out a sickening crack. It was a frightful habit she couldn't help but keep up. She walked into the Great Hall and saw her childhood friend Carolyn. Sauntering over to her she walked up behind her and put her hands over her eyes.

"Guess Who?" She said making her voice deep and raspy like someone with a really bad cold.

Not two seconds after Carolyn had asked Regulus about the vacant seat beside him, had she felt a cold pair of hands place themselves in the way of her vision and close in tightly on her face. The hands were occupanied by a chilling voice that sent a shiver down Carolyn's back. She reached up and took hold of the hands on her eyes and as with some odd instinct she new exactly who it was. "I really don't know," she played "would I be wrong to guess a very sick Santa Claus?" she giggled turning herself around to face her dear old friend Sabrina Holloway. "SABBY!" Carolyn gave her friend a large hug hello. It was always good to see her, they had grown up together and seemed to be seeing less and less of eachother since they started at Hogwarts in different houses. It really was a shame ( ... )

Sabrina looked over to Regulus Black. She had heard of the Blacks, then again who hadn't. She smiled at him and gave him a salute.

"Allo there Matey!" She said in a rather good pirate accent. It was one of Sabby's little tricks. Charms and accents.

Sabrina looked down at Carolyn with an eye brow raised. This was more then her average happy-go-lucky nature. "Umm Carebear, hun, exactly how much sugar have you consumed in the past little while?" She said trying to phrase the question just right.

She looked to Regulus wondering if he'd find this more amusing or disturbing. Of course Sabrina had known Carolyn since they were little, so she was just glad that Carolyn didn't seem to have her wand on her. Carolyn plus sugar plus wand equaled a frightful disaster. Sabrina reached up scratching the back of her neck under her long dark hair hoping that Carrie didn't simply spill out into a fit of giggles.

Carolyn spun herself around on the chair to face Sabrina. "Oh, not too much... just, er... well, I won the Treacle eating contest about half hour ago! Heh, Colin thought he had the competition in the bag!... heehee in the bag!" she snickered to herself, or at least she thought it was to herself.

"Oh, good for you dear," she said with a look on her face that ws anything but pride. She patted Carolyn on the head and then looked around Carrie and Regulus seemed to have loads to talk about where as she had little imput.

"I think I'm going to head off to the library," she said still looking around not fully forming the thought. "See ya around Carebear! Nice to meet your Regulus." She said with a faint smile.

With that she adjusted her peace sign earing and walked off in the direction of the library. She hadn't really wanted to be surrounded by big books but she defnately didn't want to go off to the common room.

Carolyn beamed up at Sabrina, eyes close so she could brace herself for the not-so-light pats and therefore taking no notice to the look on her friends face. "Oh alright if you must," she stuck up her bottom lip to pout and then smiled up again, "I'll catch up with you later, promise."
