Remus blinked in the dim light as he entered, nodding courteously to Madame Pince when he passed her. He made his way directly to where he knew Regulus must be, and gave a faint smile.

"Happy late Christmas."

Regulus smiled slightly and handed the larger of the two gifts up to Remus.

"Merry Christmas, or whatever it is they say."

Remus' face broke into a proper grin now, and he tore into the paper with all the vim and excitement of a Gryffindor on Christmas, as his inner monologue told him so.

Upon briefly relfecting on the analogy, he realized that it wasn't technically an analogy but a description, and he decided that his inner monologue was on the fritz and that maybe he ought to simply ignore it for a while.

All thoughts of inner analogies gave way, however, when he saw the present.

There were really a number of smaller gifts within the container, as Regulus was rather unpracticed in the art of efficent gift-giving.

A thick but squat leather volume titled Magical Experimentation For Scholars filled the upper half of the box. Below, crackling paper gave way to a number of smaller objects. A small sack of beads held a note indicating how to use them to track objects, a small roll of red thread with a dubious scent, and lastly a note.
