beatnick138 writes in and asks, "Dear Lee: I was just wondering, where would be a good place to get a copy of your Swing is Dead album? I have El Bando En Fuego, and I've seen your live albums in the record stores, but I've never been able to find that particular album. Any suggestions?"

Dear Beatnick: I'd be very happy if every single copy of Swing is Dead ( Read more... )

Was that the same album which featured THE STICKER?

The same. After Girlfriend "persuaded" Larry to leave the band many unpleasantries were exchanged. The next shipment of SID came with a big sticker on the front that had Girlfriend's picture on it (she was wearing a rubber dress - sound familiar?). I said to Larry there was NO WAY I would continue to sell a CD with that sticker on it. So he shelved it. No one can buy it anywhere. That's why beatnick138 can't find it anywhere.

Well I have found a copy of it. I've actually heard the album, and I think it's rather well done (despite the whole drama behind it). I volunteer at the UC Berkeley college radio station KALX and they have a copy so I took a listen. I really enjoyed the spooky atmosphere on the whole album.

What's really upsetting is that all that ambience and between-songs stuff was mine. It just really sucks that I committed so much time and energy just to have it spoiled.

Watching someone else produce your CD is like watching someone rape your daughter.

Bummer, Lee.

I am legally prohibited from accepting monetary compensation for Swing is Dead bootleg sales.

However, if you want to make a general contribution, there's a TIP JAR link at the bottom of the Tunes page.

That's too bad... Whenever I had a chance to pass on the good word of LPN to my east coast college groupies, I would use Waltz of the Damned as the "one song" to try and show off your style (more artistically than musically). Perhaps I'll have to switch off to Shaolin K.F.D.G.O.M.S for a while?
