Its seems as if the entire city is tired today from the Fuhrer's birthday.  And yet the cafe' is still buzzing.  I serve quite a few hungover customers during the afternoon.

It is a beautiful day so many sit in the shade along side of the street and observe those who pass by.  It is pleasant to be in the warm sun as I work.  I love being able to ( Read more... )

I wonder off from the bench I was sitting on, I want to be away from the SS HQ for a while.
I find a nice little cafe, and order a coffee.
I'll be late back after dinner break, but Heydrich wont notice, I think he's forgotten all about me now.
It makes me sad, but I know it's for the best.

I turn and refill the coffee of a woman to my left. I see her with her head in her hand gazing off into the street. She looks rather troubled. I wish it was my place to ask if she was all right, but it also isn't in my nature to place myself in other's personal affairs.
All I can do is offer a friendly smile as I fill her cup.

A smile.. I haven't had many of those lately, just nevous glances and accussing looks.
The waitress seems nice.
I thank her for the refile, and the smile, but I doubt she'll know i meant that as well.

I raise my hand to call the waitress.
Mein Gott, my headache is killing me!

The sun is burning hot on my black uniform. Oh the disadvantages to be in the SS!

I hurry over to the SS officer sitting out in the sun. Once refilling his coffee I ask, I stand up right and ask, "Is there anything else I can get for you, sir?"

I look at the waitress. She looks nice.
"Well, actually you can" I reply. " Would you care to get me 2 asperines and a glass of water?"
I wonder why she doesn't seem to have a headache, cause almost everybody at the terrace looks wrecked from last nights activities!

I smile, "Of course." I head behind the counter of the cafe' and fetch the asperine and water. It does seem as if the whole city is worn out from the night before! I would imagine this officer had been at the ball seeing that nearly every member of the SS attended..
I return to the gentlemen and hand him the water, "It is a shame the city can't take a holiday after the holiday." I say jokingly.

I walk into the coffee shop; my head is hanging low. I take a seat at one of the tables and bury my head into my hands.
I feel like crying.

I see another officer walk into the cafe'. As I approach him I sense that he is upset. I place a cup and saucer on the table he sits at. With a smile, I ask if there is anything I can get for him.

I look up at the young woman. "Lemonade, please."
I am breathtaken by her beauty.

I smile at the officer and nod. I go off to fetch him a lemonade. He does look familiar...possibly from the night before? Ah, well I saw so many men in uniform at the ball.
