“Eeeeeh? I never noticed that Maddy had double piercings.”
My eyes snapped open, ready to attack, but I managed to recognize the voice in time so all I did was brush away the red hair from my face. “Krystal.”
“Ack!” She quickly jumped back and stood up straight, looking sheepish. “Sorry, Maddy, but I was curious.”
I did not even have the energy to sigh, too busy with calming my heart. She was lucky I knew her, or else she might have ended up like my enemies. “It is okay, but next time please remember I like my space.”
“Aheh heh heh, right,” the redhead said nervously. In a second, she bounced back to her normal self, a grin on her face. “I really like your moon and star earrings, Maddy. Where did you get them?”
A fond smile appeared on my lips as I remembered how Drew had thrown the box at me when we had been over at Vincent’s place for a Christmas get-together. “They were a gift from a high school friend.”
“Awwww. So I assume your friend didn’t tell you where she bought the earrings?”
I shook my head. “Sorry, I am afraid not.”
“Damn.” Krystal pouted. “I really want a pair.”
“Don’t you have enough?” Rochelle asked with an eyeroll.
“A girl can never have enough jewelry!”
“With the amount you have? I think there’s a limit.”
“Rochelleeeeeeeeeeeee!”
Smiling, I was about to close my eyes again when my phone notified me of a call. Of course it was Noah. He seemed to be the only one who called me these days, but he did not seem to understand that he should not be contacting me at work. It was too risky and dangerous for my taste.
He did not even say hello. “What’s your ring size?”
I furrowed my brows. Please do not tell me… “Why do you wish to know?”
“Please?”
“Guess,” I said with a small smirk.
I could tell he was pouting now. “Then I guess I’ll have to get you a necklace chain just in case.”
“What is the occasion?”
“Nothing~ I won’t disturb you now. I’ll be by your place toni-oh crap, Maria spotted m-” and he hung up. I stared at the phone silently before putting it away. I looked up to see everyone staring at me. Suddenly feeling very self-conscious, I glared at them. With wide eyes and frightened faces, they immediately went back to work with a fervor I had not seen before. If only they were like this more often…
Sighing, I closed my eyes and fiddled with the silver bands on my fingers, hoping Noah was not doing what I think he was doing.
