To be fair, a portion of this Chihoko has brought on herself!

But on the other hand, her kid is Riku, so. There's that.

Huzzah, you posted! I see what you meant about the parents versus the kids, but I did giggle at the "doubly banned" bit for Tidus. Because of course he is.

Of course. It's Tidus.

It's from Marina Warner's Alone of All Her Sex: the Myth and the Cult of the Virgin Mary!

Thank you! *grin* It really makes me happy to know you like it; I worry about this fic a lot, so it's great to know it's working.

*finally catching up on reading* It never fails to amaze me how both you and Dia can make Riku's parents so sympathetic and yet so doing-it-wrong. I want to hug them and also shake them for a while.

Question: they are planning on introducing Namine and Roxas eventually, I hope?

♥ Thank you! Honestly, both of those would probably serve them well.

No, not to their parents. Kairi doesn't have much of a problem with doing it, once she thinks her father has calmed down about all the other "magic is real and we break the laws of reality a lot! especially Riku" infodump; but the story they told their parents conveniently left out a lot of what happened in Hollow Bastion, and Sora can't think of a way to explain how Roxas and Namine exist without having to tell his mom that he essentially killed himself.

None of them think that would go over well.

So, they're not going to intentionally introduce either of them. I hope the italics are not too subtle.

Indeed. I mean, it would help if Riku spoke Normal Human, but I'm not convinced that he's ever spoke Normal Human so. Oh, and also: is the source of Riku's lack-of-siblings that Riku-daddy is actually sterile? Then again unless Sephy can impregnate via some sort of hair tentacle (...you never know) I imagine they would already know that...

So they are going to tell Tidus et al then? They might accept the "so yeah long story SO HERE'S THE GUY WHO LIVES IN MY HEAD." Unless Roxas decides that he doesn't actually want to meet new people, which would be IC for him... Namine might want to be sociable, though.

And yeah, that would end badly. Poor woman goes through enough all ready.

Your italics are so subtle I cannot imagine what you mean by them!

(Since commenting I have drafted out a "Sora's mother realizes That Is Not Sora" fic with plans for one for Kairi and Namine. I think the thought process was, "I HOPE THIS SCENE HAPPENS. ...wait. I COULD WRITE THAT SCENE. *proceeds to do so*")

I'm going to jump on this comment since RM never remembers to check this and also I have the answer: Yasuhiro is not sterile, Riku is biologically his kid. The reason he has no sibling is because of something I haven't discussed with RM yet, I don't think.
