I did have a rather odd one involving Atobe and an Articuno. [note the distinct lack of a real answer!]

Whatever did you do to end up in a week-long coma, hmm? [y'know, so he can avoid doing the same thing.]

Is my curiosity morbid enough to brave asking for details, do you think?

[a pause, and consideration] And it's a bit of a funny story, really. Would you believe me if I said it's the result of having too many unfinished memories?

I think you're the only one who can answer that~

[cocks head to the side] I would say that sounds rather strange, but given that strange seems to be the norm here, it wouldn't sound out of place.

And take responsibility for my own downfall? Nonsense.

[a hum] Is that so? It sounds like I need to work on making my excuses more incredulous.

I guess you won't get to hear about it, then~

Perhaps you got in a terrible, protracted battle with a especially squirmy Magikarp?

I couldn't be more desolated, really.

And sadly enough, that sort of thing is fairly plausible around here. For maximum impact, we might need to go a bit further.

Oh, I'm sure.

[considers] ......You were quite happily taking a shower when you proceeded to lose your balance. You attempted to grab the wall bar, but due to manufacturing error this ended up pulling down the entire wall. The next room was, unfortunately, inhabited by your female neighbor, who was in the process of getting dressed, and upon your entrance she began screaming, thus enciting her Pokemon to attack you. You were promptly hit with both a Thunderbolt and a Flamethrower, and sent flying out into the hallway, where you fell into the stairwell and rolled down several flights until arriving at the first floor, where you hit your head on a sleeping Geodude and were forced into unconsciousness.

[looks perfectly serious.]

Most certainly!

[And oh gods, amusement.] Oh, is that what happened to you? I didn't realize your stay in Johto was already this exciting.

Me? Oh, certainly not~ I'm told my head is far too hard to be defeated by a mere rock, even a sentient one.

An amazing compliment if I've ever heard one. Say, I think there's a certain tree around these parts that you'll just have to meet.

A tree? What sort of tree?

The dancing, punching, son-of-a-cedar.

Or was it aspen?

...A dancing tree? [is totally interested now.] And where might I find it?

If you're planning on heading down to Goldenrod, you can't avoid it. Just follow the yellow brick road.
