[ ... well, it might've rung a bell if he had ever heard a certain lazy mage laugh... but at this point, it's still kind of uncertain, and he doesn't want to jump to any conclusions yet-- the laughter is startling for the first five beats, but when it goes on, he has to raise an eyebrow.

My, I think I'm being punished for all those years of wry chuckles, as opposed to actual laughter.

H o w e v e r. He does not know how he got to this various part of Johto. He is tapping a foot, looking around impatiently, when he sees Fuji and the whimsicott.

Does he recognize Fuji from that one time?

...No, of course not. He's just striding forward to figure out where they are. And a dramatic hilt of his sword point at Fuji!!! At least it's still sheathed.]
