Second Stitch; [Video]

[The video feed cuts on to the view of a bedroom, decorated in multiple colors with scarves draped here and there and cushions spread about. A mannequin is seen in the background, a simply decorated pastel purple sundress draped on it. It seems like the video might be accidental before Kanaya appears from the side, holding light yellow and green ( Read more... )

That's... incredible. You made that?

You probably should go cooler since it has the gray stripes. I don't think you could go wrong with using the same shade of gray for the sash, but if you want it to really stand out, maybe a light, but, you know, grayish pink for the sash and some halter straps?

[OOC: The stripes are a bit bigger than pinstripe, but the gray is very light! :)]

Ah, yes. I was inspired after looking through some summer catalogues I had around. I've been thinking a sheer fabric sash with a bow in the back would complete it, but I've been stuck on the color. [After hearing the suggestions, Kanaya looks a bit in thought before responding.]

I didn't think of using a cooler color, though it would definitely make sense with the purple and the lightness of the gray weaved within. I hadn't thought of halter straps either, though that is definitely perfect for summer.

can you tell she loves this? reallysuchalady June 25 2011, 04:07:59 UTC
You've got to be really good to use that kind of lavender as, like, your base without looking like a little girl, I think. The stripes are what make that dress work, and the sash is going to give it a really nice shape, but to make it perfect, well... [She tilts her head to the side and hums, then le gasp!] I'm sorry, I didn't hear you say you wanted something sheer! I was thinking in opaque for some reason. If you keep it sheer, I liked the first palette your friend put up, and it probably won't work well for straps so if you still like the idea maybe see what remnants you have of the purple. If you want more of the pink - or whatever you want to pick [she adds quickly] - you should probably go with accessories.

yep, but its not like this girl doesn't either! jadelipstick June 27 2011, 00:37:19 UTC
[She laughs lightly at all the information, before smiling. She had never met anyone to get this excited about clothing before.]

You have very good ideas and opinions, and I'm grateful to hear all of them. I even agree with most of them. The sheer fabric was merely an idea I was thinking of going with, nothing is set in stone until the needle hits the fabric. Opaque is definitely something I didn't think of, but also a great idea.

Really all the suggestions I have been recieving have been something that can work, even and especially the accessories. However that is my weakest knowledge, so I would definitely need suggestions as to what would go well.

I'm glad I could help you out! Where did you learn all this, anyway?

I haven't seen the finished product yet, of course, but the coordinates really depend on your personal taste. What kinds of pieces do you like to add, and what style do you like?
