it had somehow escaped my notice that HBO and BBC are doing George R R Martin's Song of Ice and Fire.

That's going to be one epic, miserable bitch of a project, GLORIOUS.

OoOoh AND Terry Goodkind's Wizard’s First Rule

Considering the content and subject matter of George R R Martin's 'Song of Ice and Fire' i cant help but wonder if any BBC production of it will be cut so much as to be 5 minutes long

have you SEEN anything by HBO?

25% grisly death
35% graphic naughty scenes
40% costumes and sumptuous scenery

the above swap around episode by episode ;p

Yeah, good call. I love HBO stuff - be it Deadwood (every third word is a swear word), The Wire (some grisly death and graphic naughty scenes) or True Blood, they always seem to deliver the goods. If by "The Goods" I mean sex and violence with a good story wrapped around it.

Legend of the Seeker is not a bad little setup, not a bang on adaptation of Wizard's first rule but cool enough. Its occas90jally does feel a little like a Sam Raimi NZ generic fantasy series.

Yeah. I sort of feel that, as a story it's very episodic and there aren't a whole lot of season level developments. I can tune into any episode and find Richard, Caitlyn and Zed battling the forces of Darken Rahl. It's been ages since I've read the books, but from memory Richard actually defeats Darken Rahl pretty early in the series (and takes his place as ruler of Dahara). I don't know if the series is actually going in that direction or if it's just going to stay episodic with R, C and Z battling the forces of Darken Rahl each week.

And by Caitlyn I mean Kahlan. Couldn't remember the characters name.
