"am I the same - my body constantly changes... if i were my body, doesn't that mean I'm different? same thing with my mind - my ideas and memories constantly evolve... am I the same person with different ideas? Constancy is a strange beast.... or is there something else to the sense of self all together?"

Do not confuse growth with change. A wall can be made bigger by adding more bricks, but it is still the same wall.

well, you are similar, but not the same. Every bit of growth makes us different than that which we were. It is more that it isn't radical changes. It is very rare that these changes are perceptible.

And even your brick wall changes. Even if left alone, it isn't the same wall. It is slowly worm away by wind, water, and pollution. This gives it it's own small changes that makes it different from the wall that was originally built.

"that makes it different from the wall that was originally built"

Only upon unnecessarily close inspection. It doesn't change in form or function.

but, the degree of inspection doesn't matter. It still is change. change can add form or function, or take a away from it. Minor changes could make the wall into piece of art or be incorporated into another structure.
