Cho Kyuhyun used to be a logical young man, that is, until he joined Super Junior. He didn’t believe angels could exist on earth, but that was until he met Leeteuk. He thought he was already evil, but then he got to know Kim Heechul. He knew for a fact that he had then weirdest hobbies, but that was until he learned about Yesung. A lot of his beliefs had been tested, and most of them he had to revoke, because they have all been tested when he joined the group.

He thought men should not be allowed in the kitchens (God knows he shouldn’t), but it was forgotten when he saw Ryeowook and his amazing kitchen skills, and for Kyuhyun who acted quite mature enough for his age (unless intentionally ), didn’t really think that anyone above a certain age should act childish, but he literally got a surprise when Donghae ventured about the living room of the suju dorms on his first day, shouting happily and claiming something about playing hide and seek with his friend Eunhyuk and his dog.

Kyuhyun had to shake his head at the influx of everything he used to believe in all gone. He thought this was the worst, but clearly it was just yet to come, because in the years that he had known himself, Cho Kyuhyun thought he was not capable of loving anyone…

Until Lee Sungmin came to his life.

--

Cho Kyuhyun didn’t believe in love at first sight, until that day he was sent to move in the suju dorms to be a part of Super Junior. He knew he was just an outsider, so to speak, a last minute addition, and he expected that they wouldn’t be at all that accepting, because now, he had to share their limelight, so when they greeted him, he tried to be formal, despite them acting more or less friendly towards him. He didn’t know what to think, whether they just playing with him or it were real, and Kyuhyun figured at least it was a warm welcome for him, and he expected that simple gestures would’ve been enough, until it was Sungmin’s turn to greet him.

He was expecting another friendly handshake, like Ryeowook and the rest had done, but he froze when he felt someone suddenly hugging him. Not to get him wrong, it’s not like he didn’t like hugs or any kind of skinship, but he didn’t exactly like to be touchy feely with people he had just met.

“You’re Kyuhyunnie right?” the boy, who he learned was named Sungmin and was hugging him chirped happily, beaming at him, “Welcome to Super Junior!”

“uhm” he said, trying to think of something witty to say, as always, but right now he couldn’t really think, as he found himself staring at Sungmin “thank you” he managed to say, which was, he told himself, not a very Kyuhyun-like reply.

Sungmin then chuckled, and Kyuhyun felt himself flush, for apparently no reason at all “Don’t be shy! We might look intimidating, but we’re a big happy family!” he said, letting go of him, and again for no reason at all, Kyuhyun suddenly felt disappointed.

He tried to act normal after that, though he did catch himself looking more than just once in Sungmin’s direction, and felt himself frown when he saw hugging him Ryeowook by the waist, smiling and laughing. Ignoring the ugly feeling at the pit of his stomach he decided to turn away and concentrated on Leeteuk, who was discussing about the dorm rules, and things to remember now that he was joining.

Cho Kyuhyun didn’t believe in love at first sight, he knew he didn’t, but as Sungmin’s chuckles seem to find its way to his ears from the other side of the room, he just didn’t know. How do you see Love anyway?

--

Cho Kyuhyun didn’t believe in fate.

Everything in his life was done methodically and scientifically. He was a genius, and for him, everything can be explained with logic and wit. But again, he found this belief of him challenged when he came to the super junior dorms, as that evening he found that he would be sharing rooms with Sungmin.

“Uhm” that lump in his throat was back, when he entered the said room and was nearly blinded with the entire amount of pink inside it, with Sungmin himself on the bed, clad in a freaking pink dress pajama.

“Oh, hey Kyu! What--” the man had said, and Kyuhyun resisted the urge to raise an eyebrow at his newly-given nickname. Then Sungmin’s eyes widened “Oops! I’m sorry! I forgot, Leeteuk hyung told me you’ll be my roommate!” he immediately stood up and started to help him.

He shook his head “It’s alright” he said sincerely, although he knew he should be angry, one look at Sungmin and all that feeling seemed to have melted right away, and all he could do was admire Sungmin in his really girly outfit, trying not to blush too much least he is obvious.

Sungmin smiled at him, as he carelessly dumped his bag at a corner, sighing. It had been a long day after all. “Isn’t this like Fate Kyu?” he said suddenly, giggling as he hugged a big stuffed toy from his bed.

Kyuhyun smiled, but didn’t tell him he didn’t believe in such things, because he thought Sungmin would be the kind to pout when he wasn’t agreed with. But unfortunately, him not saying anything also meant he didn’t agree with him for Sungmin

“Yah! You don’t believe me, do you?” Sungmin huffed, glaring at him from behind the fluffy animal.

“N-No, it’s not like that!” he stuttered, suddenly not wanting to upset the older man. “I, uhm…”

“You do believe me then?” he asked contemplatively, still from the rear of the pink bear. He looked ridiculously cute, and for him, who used to flinch at the sight of aegyo, didn’t really find the urge to turn away at all.

“Uh…yeah I do hyung” he finally said, and Sungmin immediately smiled and hugged him “Yey! I know you would! See, isn’t fate amazing?”

He couldn’t help it but smile “yeah…really amazing” he ruffled Sungmin’s hair before he could stop himself.

“Yah! I’m the hyung here!” in turn Sungmin also ruffled his hair, and in the end it somehow turned into a tickling contest. And Sungmin, Kyuhyun learned, was in fact very ticklish, and soon he enough he was screaming that the door suddenly opened to reveal Leeteuk, Heechul and Hankyung. Kyuhyun suddenly found himself blushing, especially since the three have walked in on them in a rather…compromising position. (He was on top of Sungmin, because he also found out, that despite being cute and a bit childish), Sungmin was actually strong, that he had to pin him to the ground to be able to tickle him.

“What is going on in here!?” Heechul said as he opened the door. “Oh?” he smirked when he saw the two occupants of the room.

Kyuhyun pulled himself up at once, offering a hand for Sungmin, who was still chuckling a bit “Oh hey hyungs” he greeted the three at the door, completely oblivious at to what they might be thinking “Why are you here?”

Leeteuk was smiling now, shaking his head kindly “You were screaming so loudly so we rushed to see what was happening”

“It turns out you were just bonding with our new maknae here” Kyuhyun blushed at Heechul’s words, who was smirking at him directly now. “Cute”

“I was just trying to make him feel at home” Sungmin smiled, putting a hand on Kyuhyun’s shoulder, and making him tense up, which luckily, he didn’t notice. “See?”

“Well, can you do it tomorrow?” Leeteuk said “It’s past midnight and we all have something to do in the morning”

“Yeah, and some of us are trying to bond more intimately” Heechul said, an arm around Hankyung’s smirking suggestively. The other man just smiled.

“Okay” Sungmin said, and Kyuhyun nodded as the three went away. Sungmin chuckled again and turned to Kyuhyun “Sorry about that Kyu...anyway, let’s go to bed?”

“Okay” he answered quietly, his mind still processing what had just happened, and why he felt like continuing what they were doing earlier, despite Leeteuk and heechul’s warnings. He turned to his stuff, and suddenly realized something.

He didn’t have a bed.

“Uhm…Sungmin hyung---” he began.

Sungmin seemed to have figured out his dilemma now “Sorry Kyu, but Leeteuk hyung said it’s going to take a while before they could give you a bed” he said sadly, but then smiled brightly “Until then, or at least, until your mattress arrives, here” he scooted over to one side of his bed, and Kyuhyun stared, knowing what he had meant.

He shook his head “I can’t-” No, he was not going to sleep beside a man he just met, especially if that man is currently making him feel things he should not even be feeling about himself.

Just no

But Kyuhyun still found himself lying beside Sungmin minutes later, who had fallen asleep easily even though he had now a bedmate, and a male one at that. But as he stared at Sungmin’s even breathing, he found that nervousness slowly creeping away, and he was finally able to lie down too, he smiled softly at the cute pout the older man had on before he found himself thinking…Is this really fate?

--

Kyuhyun didn’t think he could be jealous.

Mostly because he didn’t think he could feel attraction, but he did, and somehow, he found himself falling for Sungmin, all the cute acts, all the things Kyuhyun thought would eventually make him turn away from the older man had somehow backfired at him, and he now found himself inexplicably smitten with the man, not that he would ever tell him of course, because He just knew Sungmin wouldn’t take him seriously. He was close to every member, and Kyuhyun thought that was an advantage because Sungmin would not be suspicious of him.

Unfortunately, it also became a threat. Kyuhyun didn’t think he was the jealous type. He was a rational man, and he believed in reason. However, all that seemed to be long forgotten when he would see Sungmin posing PDA with anyone else. First he thought he was just not used to all of it, but then, being a part of Super Junior literally meant that he should learn and be a master of the art of fan service, so he did get used to it, and pretty soon he would provide some of his own (although he was never going to be able to do it as blatantly as Eunhae or Heechul when it comes to flirting, or Yesung when it comes to molesting certain body parts). When it was Sungmin doing it, however, Kyuhyun always had to turn away. Even if it was just simple hugs with Ryeowook, or just a kiss on the cheek with Kangin, the maknae would really feel ugly at the pit of his stomach. Normally he would just be quiet about this, until the time in Exploration of the Human Body shooting, where he had to watch Sungmin kiss Eunhyuk over and over and over again underwater. Of course he knew it wasn’t really kissing, and that it was a part of the challenge, but as he stared at the screen how their lips would meet under water, the forced smile on his lips wanted to just turn upside down, and he found himself wishing he was in eunhyuk’s place, even if that meant going to be underwater even though he had just gotten permission to shoot.

When filming was over, Kyuhyun was the first one to walk away from the studio. He refused to look at Sungmin or Eunhyuk. Sungmin because he wasn’t sure if he could resist the urge to claim his lips as Eunhyuk did, and Eunhyuk because even though he knew it wasn’t his fault, he really really wanted to punch him. He ignored the searching looks of Leeteuk and just said he didn’t feel well when they headed back to the dorms.

He lied down on his own bed (yes, he had one now) later that night trying to remove the image of EunMin kissing from his memory, he groaned loudly, wishing he didn’t feel like this. He knew it was a part of the show, but why was he so angry.

“Kyu?” a soft voice said from the door, and Kyuhyun looked up to notice that Sungmin had entered their room too. There was a look of concern in his eyes that made the maknae’s inside squirms a bit “Leeteuk hyung told me you’re not feeling well”

Kyuhyun looked away as Sungmin sat down on his bed “It’s okay hyung, it’s nothing” he said. He nearly flinched when the older man pressed his palm on his forehead, he could feel his breath stopping when Sungmin peered at him closely.

“You don’t have a fever, but your face is red” he whispered “You should rest Kyuhyun…” he resisted the urge to raise an eyebrow at the sudden use of his real name, because he had gotten used to Sungmin always calling him by his nicknames. He looked at him oddly before standing to go to his own bed “I’m sorry”

Kyuhyun wanted to ask why he said sorry, but opted not to, and he stared at Sungmin as he lied on his pink dressed bed, his back on him, he wanted to hug him, really did, but knew now was not probably the right time because he didn’t want to do anything he might regret later, but as time slowly ticked away and he was listening to Sungmin’s even breathing as he slept, he realized didn’t like this feeling, he didn’t like jealousy…not at all.

---

Cho Kyuhyun was doomed to have a one-sided love.

He watched as everyone else in Super Junior got together, From Hangeng and Heechul’s not so hidden relationship, to Kangin and Leeteuk’s parently supervisions. Donghae and Eunhyuk are always dropping hints at each other Kyuhyun knew they were bound to end up together soon. Heck, he could even see the way Yesung and Ryeowook would look at each when no one was looking and he felt so hopeless.

How did he end up loving Sungmin this much anyway?

He groaned, as this rate, he was going to be a grumpy old man in the future, alone where he could imagine himself sitting in a park where he would think of how he used to love someone so much when he was young biut was too coward to tell him how he felt and got married and left him. The thought alone gave him hives.

He sighed, how the hell was he going to tell Sungmin about this?

“Just tell him Kui Xian” Zhou Mi suddenly said beside him, nearly making the maknae jump, he had forgotten he was sitting right next to the chinaman.

“W-What are you talking about Mi?” he cried, trying to act innocent. Had he been talking this whole time?

“Oh, please…” the man rolled his eyes “It’s quite obvious you’re thinking about Sungmin-hyung again”

“What? No I’m--- wait, is it that obvious?”

A disapproving gaze fell on him “Please, I think everyone else in the group knows you love Sungmin…” Kyuhyun wanted to hide his head under the ground in shame “And that Sungmin loves you too”

Kyuhyun doubled taked “W-What did you say?”

Zhou MI sighed, he actually really wanted them to figure it out themselves but at the rate they were going., Sungmin and Kyuhyun were both going to be really old and wrinkled by the time they decided to confess to each other “Sungmin likes you too”

“No he doesn’t” Kyuhyun protested “How could he?”

“I have no idea, why don’t you ask him? He was crying when he suddenly saw you hug me today”

He gasped “He cried? But but it was just fan service!!! Why would he cry! Shit did he really cry?!”

It was really a good thing Zhou Mi was born with patience, that, and Siwon’s teachings really helped him not to smack Kyuhyun right now. “I. Don’t. Know. Ask him. Go. Now”

Without another word, Kyuhyun nodded, and went to go look for Sungmin, he wondered if what ZhouMi said was true, what if Sungmin really did like him back? What if Kyuhyun told him about his feelings? What would he say?

He spotted Sungmin by the gardens of their hotel, and as he walked closer he made up his mind, he would just tell Sungmin.

And maybe…just maybe…he wasn’t doomed to have a one sided love.

---

Cho Kyuhyun didn’t believe in fairy tales. How could he? He was a male after all, and he didn’t think they were real.

His heart wanted to jump out of his chest as he approached Sungmin, in his mind he had a better imagination of how he would finally confess, but under the circumstances it seems like he won’t be able to do that after all. “S-Sungmin hyung?” he asked.

His throat nearly stuck as Sungmin jumped and suddenly wiped his tears, then turned to smile at him like it was nothing “O-oh hey Kyu, w-what’s up?” he asked, not meeting his eye.

Kyuhyun wanted to hug him right then and there, but restrained himself because he wanted this right. “Why are you crying?” he asked back.

“N-no reason, I was just…uhm…”

“Was it because of ZhouMi?”
A squeak escaped Sungmin at the name, and he was starting to tremble now “N-No..N-No I wasn’t I was--”

“There’s nothing between me and Zhou Mi, and that’s the truth Sungmin hyung! It’s you who I like!” he blurted out.

The both froze.

Kyuhyun wanted to open his ribcage, his heart wanted to run away and never come back. He watched as Sungmin’s eyes turn into large saucers and gaze at him confused.

“w-what?” the older man whispered.

He gulped, there was no turning back now “I like you Sungmin-hyung, no not really, I love you. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier, I was scared you wouldn’t like me back and---”

“But I do like you!” Sungmin told him, blushing red “I do like you Kyu!”

Too bad he wasn’t Hyukjae, because he really really wanted to do a backflip right about now “R-really?” he asked, awed. Those were the best words he could ever hear from Sungmin.

Sungmin nodded shyly, and he looked so cute Kyuhyun wanted to pounce on him, but that’s probably not a good idea so he settled for a hug, a big, tight hug he always wanted to do to Sungmin ever since the day he woke up in love with him.

“K-Kyu?”

“Then you’ll go out with me?” he asked, wanting to make everything official now.

“Y-Yes”

Kyuhyun smiled so hard his jaw was hurting. But he couldn’t really care, because Sungmin agreed to dating him. He was finally dating Sungmin!

“I love you, Sungmin”

“I-I love you too Kyuhyun”

Kyuhyun may not believe in fairy tales, but right now, this wasn’t a fairy tale, this was reality.
