Oh hey, something I'm really proud of!

The way I love you has no explanation. Except maybe...the anglerfish. You see, when a male anglerfish finds a female, he bites her. Right there, on her belly. And he waits. He waits until he starts releasing a chemical that dissolves the skin of his lips and her stomach until they join together. Until they join together. Until all of his body is taken into hers - stomach, lungs, brain…heart. He wastes himself away for her. I think it’s like that. And with the pressure up here, being that deep in the ocean with you couldn’t be that different. But still…

The way I love you has no explanation. Except maybe…the gulper eel. If it hasn’t eaten for too long, it can unhinge its jaw and eat prey even bigger than itself. After being starved for so long, it can make something so much better than itself fully its own. It doesn’t care that it hurts. It doesn’t care that it‘ll be easier picking for bigger predators. It doesn’t care. It wants as much food as it can get, and for me, that’s you - you keep me alive. But still…

The way I love you has no explanation. Except maybe…the remora. For no discernable reason, these little fish will attach themselves to sharks and just ride. I know it’s dangerous going along with you, but the ride’s so smooth and the scenery’s so good that I can’t help but fasten on to your fins. Just precious…inches…away…from…your…mouth.

And I don’t know if any of this is the most beautiful thing in the world or the most painful. But at least the water feels nice.
