CTRLC CTRLV SUPER AVENGEMENT ULTRA FORCE IS GO

Of ghosts and goblins, man and machines. (or: dairantō technology-philosophy dx)

So I got bored and sat around pondering life for a while.

Say technology reaches the point where a technological 'copy' of all of your biological and neurological functions can be created. Your body and mind can be 100% duplicated in virtual form and the copy will function completely identically to the original. There are, for all intents and purposes, two exact copies of you, and neither can tell the difference, nor can anyone on the outside, as both would have the exact same memories preceding the event in which your duplicate was created.

What becomes of the concept of 'self', and the classical notions of 'soul' and 'being'? Should one of "you" be more deserving of the right to claim to "exist" than the other? Other questions come to mind but I hope this is enough to spur discussion.

Remember kids, stay in drugs, and say no to school.
