fall class schedule

Next semester, I need to take a history class and five specific education classes. Here is when those five classes are offered:

650 (Cultural): W 4:30 - 7:00 (Joyce)
659 (Reading II): W 4:30 - 7:00 (Cheryl)
678 (Inclusion): M 4:30 - 7:00 (Berge)
664 (Methods): W 7:10 - 9:40 (Jakovics)
792 (Internship I): Th 4:30 - 7 (Joyce)

I can't be the only person who has to take Reading II and Cultural the same semester. Okay... maybe I am, because everyone who is in Reading I with me this semester is currently taking Cultural, as far as I know.

Taking or not taking Cultural is not going to make me any better at my internship (sociology and anthropology provide enough "how to respect diversity!" classes, thank you), so I might be able to get away with taking it the subsquent semester during phase two of the internship. Except that they recommend taking no classes other than the internship, and that would put me at two (Cultural and another history class).

That should be okay. I just will have to talk to my advisor. I could also neglect to mention the history class to her entirely and maybe she will forget that I haven't taken it yet.

Over the summer, I'm taking 601 with Vicki Williams and, let me tell you, I hate Vicki Williams. I am going to be angry and spiteful and skip half the classes but I will actually turn in the project this time and not fail. (This is the same class and same woman that I had two summers ago.)

The offered history classes look really boring. Also, they all either conflict with my education classes or they're twice a week in the morning, which won't actually conflict with a phase one internship but will be really annoying to show up for.

My first choice, I think, would be Simpson's seminar on the global history of the Cold War. I like the Cold War, and it's once a week on Tuesday night.

If I was a better person, I might go for one of the European history classes because I have managed to go my entire life without spending more time on European history than World History class in tenth grade and HIST 100 freshman year (with an emphasis on the Byzantine empire, very little on Europe itself, due to the interests of the professor). Seriously. If I ever have to teach this shit, I'm just going to be like "uhmmm... and then there was another war, I'm sure. And a plague!" I somehow managed to spend my entire history career in college on America, Russia, Asia, and modern history. Even in WWII class, I put all the focus into the Pacific front. Good job, Kylara.

In that case, someone named McDonough is teaching "Medieval Europe" on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, Grubb has "The Renaissance" on MWF mornings (uck), Froide has Tudor and Stuart England (1485-1714), and Boehling (who the hell is this?) has Europe, 1815-1914 on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. I know and like Dr. Froide, and vaguely know Grubb, but any feedback on the other professors is appreciated, UMBC-kids.
