Adrift where?

[ooc: Carl's on a life boat. I'll just assume there're a bunch of NPCs onboard, since most Polyites seem to've abandoned ship in other ways.]

[huddled up on flotsam, claws buried deep in the wood, twitching every so often as the water laps at his lower half--not quite Rose, but certainly not Jack; exhaling slowly]

Dead... so many..

[closes eyes wearily, muttering]

...so cold.

[developing a habit, reaches over and grasps his shoulder; laying on his back to watch the sky for a beacon, or a torch, should anyone return; considerably thinking much more clearly than most, is laying across the -other- side of the piece of wood, balancing them out, his own lower half in the water]

Wake up, Gabriel...you can't leave me just yet.

[the ship hands pull Gabe aboard and wrap a rough blanket around him; there isn't anything hot to drink on the boat, or much else they can do for him other than situate him in the boat]

[nobody tries to assist Dracula; apparently, these NPCs have seen some of the crazy powers their fellow passengers have, and don't want to interfere where they're not wanted]

[Carl sits next to Gabe]

Van Helsing...? Are you awake? Can you hear me at all?

[very, very quiet, eyes all but closed, the fight gone out of him now that it's better - well, not fixed, but certainly better. Tries to pull self up a bit, nodding, and then casting a quick glance to the debris to ensure Vladis is onboard the lifeboat also; rasps, the cold air having taken a toll on his vocals, as well as everything else]

...cur-se... n..nnot.. over.

[which is what he's dreading, but with Carl right there, looking so delightfully concerned, oh, it doesn't seem so bad just to slip away into the night, after all; but all in good time - right now just looks up, trying to memorise his face]

[sits across from them looking at Gabriel silently, leaning his elbows on his knees...it's the first he's relaxed since the ordeal started..and he's tired]

...not yet...

[after a long moment of indecision, hugs Gabe close, working under the assumption that, although he's not exactly warm, he wasn't in freezing water like Gabe and thus can help; the other passengers in the boat are fairly disinterested--the ones that aren't huddled about looking shell-shocked are still skimming the ocean for survivors, although it's unlikely anyone else is alive]

It should be, soon enough.

[suspects he should thank Vladis or something, but that can wait]
