Honeymoon Blog: Days 4-6

So its been a while, but as for the chronicling of our honeymoon...

On Wednesday, Rachel and I went to Tourist Trap TN, and Tourist Trap (take two), TN. In laymens terms, that's Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We went to see what was WORTH seeing, which was very little. In Gatlinburg we: Got some dark chocolate covered molasses honeycomb (that was sweeeet), we saw a local crafts store which had much awesomeness for more $ than we could part with, and finally, got Rachel a painted horse (it looks cool, but you'll have to ask her more aboot it). So that was about 2 hours in Gatlinburg and we were done. I was warned when we came here that Gatlinburg was bad, but I was told on every corner was a tattoo parlor. This is simply untrue! On every corner is an Old Tyme Photo place that gussies women up like tavern wenches, and next to those is an air brushed shirt parlor.

In Pigeon Forge... well, lets say lunch caught up with me. I don't eat pork often enough to make an entire meal out of it. So! While I wasn't bemoaning my fate from the local restrooms, we spent time looking at the horses that the Dixie Stampede Dinner Show uses, and replenished Rachel's supply of shirts (I love my wife! but she forgot to pack for herself!). Then we waited around a while after things calmed down for the dinner show to start. Eyup, we went to the Dixie Stampede.

For dinner they gave everyone one whole (but small, not much bigger than two balled fists) chicken, a slice of pork tenderloin (which neither of us ate), a biscuit, a bowl of really tasty creamed vegetable soup, half an ear of corn on the cob, and a wedge of potato. They also had a vegetarian alternative dinner! Followed up with an apple pastry, all the while watching trick riders and doing little games (it was a North vs. South affair... the south won through laziness and cheating! They didn't follow instructions... bad teachers I say!)

Thursday we went to an unguided horseback riding place, Next to Heaven Stables. It was kinda fun, but Rachel's horse was bein' lazy and the trail was littered with the kind of evangelist Christian sayings that make me feel bad. I don't mind them, but... So that was not worth it.

We spent most of the rest of Thursday going around Townsend looking at the arts and crafts shops seeing if there was anything souvenir worthy. We got some sweets, but nothing very souvenir-y, and came back to the cabin Grill Out! I suck at those. My first few brauts were not fully cooked. :(

This brings us to Friday, where we found out that, due to the drought, there would be no White Water Rafting. And because we didn't plan it ahead of time, no mountain climbing. So we settled with visiting the Townsend Arts and Crafts Fall Fare. That was fun (we also thought about biking, but... maybe if we brought our own next time!). We got a couple of Christmas ornaments there and some home made icecream. Vaary tasty.

In the end, Friday turned out to be a lazy day, with dinner at some fancy resteraunt that was like the bastard uncle of Ponderosa. Not very good.

All in all so far, we've had a wonderful time and gained about 20 lbs! Not really on that last part, but it feels like it >__<

Today is our last full day, and we're about to head off for a !!!HALF DAY!!! of horseback riding! Speaking of, gotta go!
