Yeah, which is why I'm only posting the graphics. Though I'm willing to bet that the poster is sparking off a whole slew of 'I AM ...' spoofs and copycats even as I type.

I also don't really get the extent of uproar over the idea of 'cultural appropriation' as much as the posters in that thread... though putting someone with no? links to Africa/Africans, slapping on some face pain and then tagging on that slogan can indeed be quite... iffy.

Though I wonder: if they had Charlize Theron as the model, would it have legitimized the campaign? She is, aferall, South African.

I suppose what they're trying to use is the 'all humans came out of Africa' tack (therefore Gwyneth Paltrow is African, and so are you and I) but obviously their attempt at a more complex or sophisticated piece of advertising ended there.
