I wouldn't say I used to hate the Pixies, but I used to think they were really overrated. Now I would definitely count them among my favorite bands.

I still love Rilo Kiley's albums prior to Under the Blacklight, but that I, well, did not love. I can't really imagine myself ever paying to see them again. But that being said, I still listen to their other albums a ton.

I actually haven't been up on new music much lately...but I saw Kaki King twice last week because she was playing with the Mountain Goats, and I haven't listened to her much before, so that's my half-answer to this question.

I guess it's fairly diverse, at least in the sense that i can't think of a genre I've refused to listen to under any circumstances ever. But I have my biases for sure....

I don't really have a favorite cover band, but I'm pretty fond of the Sonic Youth cover of "Superstar," and PJ Harvey's cover of "Highway 61 Revisited." Oh yeah, and the Ataris cover of "Boys of Summer"

Ani Difranco. Anyone who writes her off as chick rock has never seen her play guitar. It's fucking insane.

3 years at Yogurt Park basically ruined every radio station in the Bay Area for me. I guess KFOG and KFRC I can still stand. And our local NPR affiliate.

Wow. Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth blows my mind. And I'll always have a thing for Janis. I think I end up being more into singers with "interesting" voices than singers who have pretty, technically perfect voices.
30. your thoughts on rap music?
I like it. I wouldn't claim to know a lot about it, but it's great to dance to, and good for bringing back middle and high school memories. I listened to a lot of Wu-Tang Clan and Notorius B.IG. this summer.

The Elected. Or Stars, to the extent you can consider them a Broken Social Scene side project.

PJ Harvey's Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea is my favorite album. I don't know that it's flawless by anyone else's standards, but I love everything about it.
