AO3

Can anyone with knowledge of 'Archive of Our Own' help me...

The FAQs state that I can embed an image into my fic but it doesn't tell me how. Can anyone either tell me or point me in the direction of the instructions?

How are you adding your fics to AO3?

In Rich Text Format or by using HTML coding? [ Is your method similar to how you leave posts to your Livejournal? ]

In Rich Text Format, there should be an "image" icon in the tool bar above the chapter you want to post. In HTML, you would use the embedding code off wherever you're "hosting" your image...like Photobucket or off ImageShack...

I thought the box that said 'Rich Text' meant that it was already in rich text format - but it was a 'press here to change to rich text' box. There are now a number of icons to use that weren't there before.

hehehe...don't worry. Every new place where we can post fics is gonna have it's own word processing software, but at its most fundamentals...it does have a basic functionality that ALL word document creators have, so if you ever have trouble with AO3's RTF-mating [ like how LJ can kind of get under our hairs ]...DO NOT BE SCARED of going back to old school HTML...and don't be afraid to contact me.

I've had my AO3 account for quite a while now, and I've been able to finagle my way through a lot of ass-holiness, because nothing is ever failsafe. Just because it's a new toy and looks cool and awesome...there are flaws and bugs you will have to work-around...just know you have someone in your corner and able to come to your rescue...

well, that is if you can't get anything out of the Mods there when it's a much serious issue. They seem to be pretty laid-back and all right...:O)

I'm still quite happy here (though, that may be more my fear of change than anything else) but I was having a lot of trouble when I was trying to post fic last (the same fic I am trying to figure out at AO3 - maybe it's the fic!), what with pictures moving and text going wonky. Is it any wonder I dislike change?! As soon as I figure something out, the powers-that-be change it!
