“Mommy will you tell me a story?” a little girl asked her mother.

“Of course Darling.” The women answered.

The mother came over and tucked her child into the pink little bed.

“Can it be about a Princess?” the child asked her mother.

The woman fell silent for a moment

“How about I tell you about a Princess and a knight.”

“I love Princesses! Tell me that one!”

“Good girl, now close your eyes and listen.” The child’s mother stroked her forehead.

“Once upon a time there was a princess who didn’t know she was a princess. She lived like any other girl, went to parties and had a lot of friends. Until one day she met a boy, who was unlike any one she had ever met before. He was very rude to her but the young princess knew the boy had a kind heart and she fell in love with him. Now there was a terrible war going on, and the young boy was a knight who had to fight in the war. The princess got herself involved in the war, and began promoting peace. She worked very hard but always thought about the knight she had meet. She only saw the knight when he wanted her to see him. But she knew he was always protecting her. ”

“Did the Knight love the Princess to?” the little girl whispered.

The mother looked sadly down at her child. “I don’t know honey. Sometime he acted like he did, but above all he was a soldier.”

The child nodded as if she understood. “Keep going mommy. What happened?”

“Well because the princess wanted to stop the war a lot of bad people wanted to hurt her. And the brave knight found himself protecting the princess. They grew very close and worked together to acquire peace. After a long war the brave knight finally ended the war.”

“What happened to the knight and Princess?” the child asked again.

The women fell silent for a moment, “They worked together to make sure that the world was truly in peace.”

“Didn’t the knight tell the princess that he loved her too? And didn’t they live happily every after in their castle?” The child asked desperately.

“No honey, that’s not how this fairy tale ended. The knight left the Princess and never came back. The princess waited for the knight to come back to her but he never did. Finally the princess got married to another man.”

The child stared to cry, “Mommy, that’s an awful fairly tale. I never want to hear it again.”

The mother stood, “I’m sorry, Catherine. I shouldn’t have told you that one.” She kissed her daughter on the forehead. “Try to sleep. Mommy will tell you a better one tomorrow.”

The women left the child’s room but stopped when she seen her husband outside the door.

“You still love him?” The blond man asked.

“I’m sorry you heard that.”

“I understand. He was special.”

The women smiled softly. “Thank you for understanding.”
