One month later

I just re-watched the series finale of Battlestar Galactica after shelving it for a month. I needed the space from it.
Now I am all heartbroken*.

* I mean, NOT REALLY, I'm just going to tuck into bed and feel maudlin for a while.

I think I finally figured out what made me so sad about the ending (SPOILER). With the exception of the couples - Gaius and Caprica, Saul and Ellen, Bill and Laura, Helo and Athena - all of the characters seemed so eager to get the hell away from each other. I'd like to think that some of them could at least enjoy each other's company...

That aspect sort of strained plausibility for me. 30-some-thousand people left in the fleet, and each and every one of them says [SPOILER] "let's just go hang out with the primitives, and leave behind all the unspeakably precious things we scrimped and hoarded and sacrificed to keep hold of for five years in space"? Including relationships?

--- Ajax is not buying it.

I thought only Bill, Lee, and Galen went stag. Presumably, Lee went off to explore; Galen went off to Ireland; Bill went to tend Laura's graveside alone. The one that breaks my heart is Bill. I really wanted his story to end in a quick, easy, pretty immediate death, i.e. smashing his shuttle into the side of a mountain after slipping his ring on Laura's body's finger, as this seems preferable to living out his days in isolation and with so little comfort.
I don't really get scrapping all their technology, either. There are ways to avoid throwing out the baby with the bathwater. But then some schmo on some forum would carp that such a notion wouldn't fit with Earth history.
