I find things are going at a more hectic pace than usual, one week flying into the next before I have the chance to catch up with it. There aren't really things that are distinctly bad, contrary to say, my last update... they just aren't going how I expected, and expecting things to go a certain way is always a mistake to begin with.
What I was referring to when I said my future had gone flat, was that my Stratford sewing test did not go as planned. I wasn't prepared for what costum costume making was, let's say... I'm trained for fashion, and that means I will eventually have to do some amount of un-training to be qualified for such a job. I can't really explain it to you non-sewer types, I just wasn't the little show-off I thought I'd be. I actually just got a letter in response today, which I don't really understand:
Dear Lindsay,
Thank-you, blah blah blah, we have found your sewing skills to be satisfactory for a Junior Level position. Most of the hiring for next season will be completed by the end of December for work beginning in February. We cannot garauntee a contract but we will keep your name in mind for any additional personnel requirements.
Sincerely Stratford person that you guys don't know.
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? It's the most ambiguous response to a job "audition" that I've ever had... as far as I know, if I did really well, I'd be getting an interview right away. But who knows, maybe they'll call me up in a month and as me to come down. I really don't know. My emotions are really being pulled around about this, obviously.
School's fine, I'm working on my dress design and coordinating collection that I'll be making if I don't hear from Stratford. I'm actually pretty happy with it, though I have strayed from making everything costumes. Instead I went for historically inspired, more specifically, Regency England a la Jane Austen.
GOOD THINGS:
-Halloween and all it's eccoutrements. I love dressing up and dressing up other people. I am so appreciative of Amanda for being my Jackie O muse, and putting up with my bitchiness while I was making it for her! Not many people knew what I was supposed to be, but those who did, made my night(s).
-Game nights! I think it's so funny that this will be the fourth one in a row, and they don't cease being ridiculously fun. During the week I've been holding out making other plans for Saturdays... crossing my fingers that we're doing another one.
-Vegas! Somehow I convinced my parents to forgo Xmas and all it's... Christ-y things, and go to the most ungodly place on earth instead. Ok, the original idea was some remote island where I could all-inclusively get wasted everyday, but that cost too much, and I hate the sun. So we're doing Vegas all it's facade-y goodness. I am no Bard, eh? I make up words by ending them with "y".
So what will the future hold for little old me? I guess we'll all just have to shuffle around and wait and see.
