( WARNING: minor gore; nothing more than mentions of blood and corpses without description. )
[ The marble steps and floor are completely smeared with red blood. The black sky looming over it seems almost starless - for a moment it's enough to wonder if the roof was just blown off -, and the big blue planet, the Earth, hangs heavy in the sky as if it could fall down any moment.
There's nothing living here. No matter where you look or where you go in the big white palace, all you might find is more and more dead bodies, some killed still somewhat merciful, others completely slaughtered. The white and golden uniforms of the soldiers of the Earth Kingdom somewhat stick out against the more grey and silver uniforms of the Moon Kingdom soldiers, but they have all fallen all the same, to a point where bodies just pile up in certain rooms.
If you walk on enough, you might notice the bodies changing all of a sudden. Whereas it was mostly male soldiers first, along with some civilians, now there are rooms with women in different uniforms resembling sailor suit school uniforms. A green-suited one, in a room where the earth below almost seems split into two. A blue-suited one, her body still in a strangled grip by a man who looks as if he died from extreme frostbite. A red-suited one that seems to have scorched everything around her, even down to the walls and herself.
In the final room, there's an orange-suited one, sitting on her knees. A large shining sword lies a little distance away from her, abandoned but drenched in blood. The woman is easily reconizable as Minako, even if she looks older, more mature. She seems to be staring idly at a corpse in front of her. The dead girl's beautiful white hair and white dress are completely stained by the red blood still flowing from her chest wound. If you get closer you can see the girl in the orange suit is covered in blood - most likely the other girl's - too, and yet she doesn't seem to pay attention to the stains. Instead she's staring wordlessly.
... She couldn't save anyone. Sailor Venus, the one who was supposed to be the leader of those who protected the princess, has failed right here in this moment. The only thing she hoped that would never happen, the one thing she'd rather lay down her own life for than this..
But then, in the middle of mourning, the corpse's eyes suddenly open, even though the body is still obviously very dead. ]
Venus.. Why didn't you save me?
[ There's a choked sound from the orange-suited soldier's throat at the sentence, and she quickly backs away from the corpse as a first instinct, crawling back until her hand hits the bloodied sword and she quickly pulls that back too, scrambling back onto her feet.
She runs out of the room, abandoning the sword and the body, and makes a run for it throughout the ruined castle. But no matter where she goes, the same words are heard over and over again from the various corpses.
( - why didn't you save us why didn't you prevent this from happening you're the leader save us help us do something do it do it - )
And the more she runs, the less she looks like that older, that tougher orange-suited soldier, that woman, and the more she looks like herself, even changing back into her more usual clothes and shrinking a little to her usual height, although the blood stains stay all over her clothes, her skin.
The moment she looks entirely like just Minako again, she stops running and instead sinks down against one of the broken walls, sitting down on the ground while covering her face with her blood-stained hands.
( - she's no soldier, she's just a girl, a broken and lonely and guilt-ridden girl - )
But she still can't hide from her fear or shame. ]
