As I guess a given date has a one in seven chance of happening on a particular day of the week, it's probably been a multiple-of-seven years since I wrote this story in high school. Ah yes, were it not for leap years...
Instead, recent years when Feb. 13 fell on a Friday would have been in 2009, 2004, 1998... and then back to 1987. Leap years do really wonky things to an otherwise-regular calendar.

Ah yes, I did have something to say in response to this, but what would it have been? Of course, I wrote this story in none of those years. Maybe it was a case of "Valentine's Day, Feb 14th, falls on a Friday this year, but wouldn't it be funny if it had been somehow juxtaposed with the unluckiness of a Friday the 13th?" Looks like there were Fri, Feb 14ths in '92 and '97, and I'm pretty sure this story wasn't written in either of them. Oh well

It definitely has that hard-hitting, journalistic brevity of which we were so fond back in the day.
