Yeah college totally does feel like summer camp, all through orientation and even beyond. I still kind of feel like that. And, yeah, introductions are awkward. Anyway, cool! I'm glad you're having a good time at college!!! Have fuuun!
I guess it's because I did a pre-o where we all basically lived with each other in a really small community. The first day where we had to "write a letter to ourselves" and do that bingo icebreaker that I HATE felt like summer camp, but after that it was ok. It doesn't really feel like summer camp because I'm so busy all the time, I suppose. Our house spirit is really great too, that might be it. And there are no class divisions.
But anyway, good luck! (buy a plant, it makes your room less dorm-y)
P.S. Sara what is the name of that place in Amherst that supposedly has good pizza?
Actually I meant "summer camp" in a good way... like it feels really carefree? But the feeling is dissipating a little--not necessarily in a negative way, though.
I think you are talking about Antonio's? Their pizza is AWESOME. Get the barbecued chicken kind -- with the black beans, if you can find it (we had that kind ordered for us, so I'm not sure what it is actually called or anything) -- or the tortellini or the nacho (or taco or something like) kind. They are all very good. Antonio's is really really really good... Amherst was ordering it a lot for us in the first few days for various programs and stuff, and now I miss it...
Oh yeah, that's true. The weeks of pre-o and orientation were summer-camp carefree. Like "lalalalala I don't have to do 400 BAJILLION PAGES OF READING." carefree.
Antonio's? Don't we have Antonio's in Chambana now? If so, then YEAH the tortellini is mad good. I had no idea it started in Amherst, though.
and wow, I am posting this like 11 minutes after you. Way to go, amirah, procrastinating until dinner opens.
