Towards a greener China

I'm preparing to do a mini-Grand Tour of China in the Spring, and I'm trying to be more active in reading the latest news on China. One issue in particular strikes my fancy: China's efforts to have cleaner air, soil, water, etc. When I was last in Beijing, I got the sense that folks in were as anxious as Canadians about the harmful effects of smog ( Read more... )

I've been keeping up with news from China (and Japan and Korea) for a while now (eventually I'll get around to explaining why in my journal). I've found a really good news blogs run by some expats (it's like Japundit). I'll send you the link once my internet starts working again. I'm replying from work and am bereft of my beloved bookmarks!

It's funny you mention the envionmental issues in China. I was just reading an article about pollution on Yahoo. A while back I read another article about the extent on the ground water pollution in China and how it's so bad that - if the country were to stop polluting it right now - it will take over a century for the water to "recover ( ... )
