Greetings. I hope everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving and took some time to reflect on how much we all have to be thankful for in this life. With Thanksgiving come and gone, that means Christmas is just around the corner, and the holiday season is upon us! And we college students all know what that means: Winter Break!

This group of friends has a proud tradition of coming together for sporting events during both summer and winter vacations. I for one would like that tradition to continue. That said, Lance Laster has done an excellent job in facilitating much of what we do over the years. However, Lance has opted not to continue on as the “commissioner” of our sporting activities this winter. The fact of the matter is we need someone to organize these events if they are to be successful; everyone has their own schedules and preferences, and it is important for them all to be brought together and considered to come to the best possible end result. Unfortunately everyone can’t be 100% pleased with the final outcome, but it the job of the “commissioner” to come to decisions that make the most people happy. In Lance’s stead, I have volunteered to take on that responsibility.

Which brings us to MLB Street this Winter. After conferring with many individuals about their respective schedules over the Break, the baseball schedule has shaped up to look like this:

GAME 1: Wednesday, December 20, 1:00 PM
GAME 2: Wednesday, December 27, 1:00 PM
GAME 3: Wednesday, January 3, 1:00 PM
GAME 4: Wednesday, January 10, 1:00 PM*

*Game 4 may be rescheduled Monday, January 8, 1:00 to allow more people to play. This can be determined as the time approaches.

As far as location goes, games will be held either at Baker Field (SUGAR LAND) or Dr. Pepper Field (FIRST COLONY). This will be determined by availability (ie. no little leagues using the field) and field conditions (ie. if there are bases or not, etc.). Once this information is collected, we can have a final vote of preference if necessary (because if a field is already being used we would obviously just have to use another one).

About making it a fair vote where all are represented, I have started an MLB Street Facebook group. This will serve as a forum that everyone can a part of (as opposed to LJ which some participants don’t have or read) as well as be a place for anything that pertains to MLB Street (pictures of us playing, links to the videos, etc.). If you have ever played or ever should have played, you have been invited to this group. It’s pretty basic right now but a lot more will be added over time.

That pretty much covers it. Further discussion will take place on both LJ and the Facebook group.

And just to hold everyone over, MLB Street II - Waltz to the Death:

PS. In regards to football, that doesn’t really operate by the same system as MLB Street, but for what it’s worth I suggest we play on Sunday afternoons at 1:00 or 2:00. What does everyone think about that?
