Candi had tagged me on Facebook and then here as well (well she tagged everyone) so I am obliging by posting in both places:
First off we have the RULES:
1. Once you've been tagged you are supposed to write a note with 16 random things, facts, habits, shortcomings or goals.
2. At the end choose 16 people to be tagged.
3. You have to tag the person who tagged you.
4. If I tagged you it’s because I want to know more about you.
5. Sorry if you think this is lame.
*******************************************************************
1. I'm obsessed with my 101 things in 1001 days list. I started it on the first day of the year, and I'm still going strong. We'll see where I am by the time summer comes...
2. As a child I am told I used to translate for and even sass people on behalf of my mother. We were waiting for a dryer in the laundry room of the apt complex we lived in right after my brother was born. This lady was putting her clothes in the dryer and I apparently told her that we'd been waiting for it and we were just looking after my brother who was in the apt, so we weren't here to claim it when she got there, but we had been waiting. The lady actually took her stuff out of the dryer. My mother couldn't speak English at the time. I was 2 and a half years old. I can only imagine what the lady was thinking.
3. I eat foods with high acid content a lot- like tomatoes, citrus, berries, pickled things. When I'm feeling bad, I crave those foods more than anything else (like sweets or pasta- you know, things that normal people crave).
4. For at least a year after I graduated college, I had nightmares about having failed a class and that I really hadn't graduated. I still get them sometimes, but much less often.
5. I did not participate in any sports in middle school or high school. I walked around the track a couple of afternoons my junior year, because the art teacher who was also the track coach wanted more girls out there. So then I got to my second semester of college and decided it would be a GREAT idea to join the crew team. It ended up being one of the best ideas I had during my entire college career.
6. I start things and don't finish them all the time. I have a list of over 30 books that I've started and never finished, including the book "Getting Things Done". I also have various crafts half finished laying about my house. It's embarrassing.
7. I think I had more crushes growing up than all the girls in my class combined, but I didn't have a boyfriend until I was 16.
8. My parents didn't have a music collection and my dad listened to the npr music station out of Jacksonville when we were young. One year when I was 8 or 9 we were at Shrimp Fest in Fernandina and saw a huge banner for another radio station. I changed the tuner to 96.9. The first song I heard was (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction and at that moment I fell in love with the rock music. I promptly went home and grabbed the walkman tape-player/radio that my mom had used in an english language FCCJ class and didn't put it down until it broke years later in high school.
9. I learned about porn from Cinemax. I learned at a young age that if it's Saturday night and after 8pm and the movie was lit like a soap opera, then that guy on the screen probably wasn't there to clean her pool or fix her cable.
10. I am terrible about keeping in touch with people. It doesn't mean I don't like you. It means that I am absentminded and feel overwhelmed when I think about how much I have to catch up on.
11. I love to make pie.
12. I own more instruments than I can play well/at all. I have a clarinet that my dad bought me my first year of college. That was one of the best presents I've ever gotten. I played well in middle school but stopped renting my horn in 9th or 10th grade, so I told him I missed it at some point and he bought one for me. I also own a cello, a keyboard and a ukulele. And the recorder my parents bought me in 3rd grade so I could play in the extra music class the music teacher created. I got to leave regular class to go to this class and learn how to read music every week. It was pretty awesome.
13. I miss being a 7 minute drive from the beach. I've missed it for 8 years.
14. As a child I used to love watching the weather channel. I wanted to be a meteorologist- not a weather girl.
15. I learned after high school that some if not a lot of people thought I was on drugs. The irony is that I wasn't at all, but everyone else was. I didn't even smoke cigarettes. (They make me nauseated so I still won't). I had an after school job and the rest of my free time was spent doing homework or hanging out with my friends.
16. I have what I've dubbed "hot feet". It's an awful phenomenon during the summer. I can't wear socks in the summer while outside. If my feet are hot, the rest of me feels overheated and almost like I'm dying or something. In the winter time though, my feet can get icy cold. Whatever temperature my feet are, that's what the rest of me feels like. If I'm naked but my feet are hot I will be unbearably hot. If I'm bundled up head to toe and my feet are out and cold, the rest of me will be cold. It's bizarre.
If you made it to the bottom of this list and you weren't tagged, consider yourself tagged!
