What was Laura like as a child?

I said this a couple of times recently, but having looked at the BSG timeline for a fic I was working on, I realised that Laura would have been born just after the first cylon war started, and her whole childhood would have been during wartime. The war didn't end until she was about ten or so. We don't know a whole lot about the first cylon war, so I guess I picture it being in some wars like wartime England, and in some ways not
