Who did you most love seeing Laura on screen with? Why? (Can be shippy or not)

While I of course love Laura's relationship with Bill I think my favorite interactions are those with Billy. It's the first time in the series where we're introduced to her playful side and they have such a great mother/son chemistry together. I've said this before but I think her interactions with Billy kept fans from (unfairly and with a heavy dose of sexism) characterizing her as the unfeeling, cruel HBIC.

And, of course, as a fic writer I like that we were given just enough between them to know their dynamic but not so much that there's little room to play with the interactions we didn't see on screen. There's a gold mine in the moments in the office on C1, the way they dealt with her cancer together, and so many AU, alive!Billy scenarios that can be explored.

And you've done such a service by fleshing out some of those unseen scenes between them.

I always found her interactions with Gaius absolutely fascinating. They have this totally yin yang thing going on - such similar paths in a lot of ways, and such totally different reactions to it. And Mary and James play off each other so well.

I also loved all her scenes with Lee. Even when they were at each other's throats, there was always this strong feeling, to me, of love for each other.

Plus Bill and Billy and Zarek etc. I love everyone :)

Oh! I picked Billy, but you're right, Gaius / Laura moments are some of the most gripping on the show.

I find the Billy moments some of the most sweet and soulful in a subtle, understated way.

And in contrast, the Gaius moments are some of the most bombastic, barbs-out, Alpha-dog dominance scenes in the whole show. And yes, they were so enjoyable in their own way.

Of course, as you've pointed out, Mary plus anyone is great. She does elevate everyone's game. :)

I loved seeing Laura and Billy on screen together.

There was something so beautiful about the mentor/mentee relationship that was developing between them.

Billy was a special person. And he was special to Laura.

His death and her reaction were some of the most moving, hurtful, horrible moments I've ever experienced in visual storytelling.

I missed seeing them on screen together, long after his death. Even later on when she would glance at his photograph on her desk, those moments were particularly emotionally profound.
