A year ago I finished watching BSG for the first time. I had never rewatched an episode, until now ( Read more... )

Off the top of my head, "Bastille Day" and "Kobol's Last Gleaming Parts I and II" are both good. Come to think of it, I'd also add "Colonial Day", "Faith", "The Hub", "The Oath" and "Blood on the Scales". Are you a shipper? 'Cause I can think of more, if so.

Aw, thanks for responding with suggestions! I will (re)check them out!

In answer to your shipper question, A/R all the way. :) Although, I love Laura so much, it all makes me happy.

From a nemesis perspective, I love when she goes toe to toe with Baltar.

And her mentorship and sense of family with Billy K. is so, so dear to my heart.

Thanks again!

It's hard to pick! Off the top of my head I'd say 33, KLG, Resistance, Flight of the Blackbird, the New Caprica arc, The Hub, and the mutiny arc.

Thanks for taking the time to brainstorm a few!

This is really helpful. I'll check out these episodes, put my heart back in my chest, and let you know how it went. :)

Much appreciated!

Oh gods, that video was painful... and beautiful... thanks for sharing.

You're right that a "majority of episodes have elements of Laura and the celebration of her life." There's nothing like a full rewatch, I'm sure.

So far, I started by rewatching 33, then watched Water and Bastille Day by skipping a few non-Laura scenes. Now, I'm all wrapped up in the arc of her character again and I'm so enjoying seeing her grow as a leader and step into that role. So I do think I'm going to have to watch it all in sequence again. (It was just one year ago that I finished watching for the first time.)

I wonder if anyone has ever edited down the series to consist of just Laura scenes. I don't know how much screentime she has total, so I'm not sure how long that would make that series, but I would totally watch that abridged version again and again!

Blood on the Scales, because she's given up, but then the mutiny kicks her back in the action. I love the moment Lee and Kara appear at Adama's door and Laura pulls it open and she's all ready for action. It's also the episode where she embraces a truce with the cylons the cylons learn to truly respect her as a person. It is what sets everything else in motion. Kick Ass Laura. I just love it.

You make a good point about the transformation she makes in that episode. The first (and thus far, only) time I watched, I was too busy being upset that she'd given up, so I wasn't able to fully appreciate the "all ready for action" moment. I remember just being relieved and saying to myself, "thank gods she's back!"

I was so stressed during the preceding episodes because I couldn't shake the feeling that if she had given the fleet a new direction, and a new sense of hope and purpose, the mutiny wouldn't have happened, or it wouldn't have been so devastating.

I'll definitely rewatch with an open mind and try to embrace the whole sequence of devoted leader to defecting leader back to determined leader again. Thanks for the new perspective!

It wasn't just Laura, everyone had given up. They all just kept going where she didn't, but that doesn't mean they didn't feel just as defeated as she did. The mutiny made them realise they still had something to live for and it gave them a new purpose. It had to happen I guess!
