It's a boy!

Congratulations. Was it difficult?

We'll also have a boy in 4 months :)

Congratulations to you as well! Do you already have a name picked out? Are you both very excited?
Was it difficult? Yes and no. Yes because it obviously hurts. After laboring for several days (yes DAYS - plural!) I finally had a c-section because the lil' stinker was not going to come out as he was caught up on my pelvis. All the contractions hurt (excruciating near the end) as did the recovery period. No, because he was 13 days overdue (for a grand total of 9 months and 21 days gestation!) and we couldn't wait to meet him. Knowing I wouldn't be pregnant anymore was a real perk. Also no, because it's a labor of love and every pain I went through to bring him into the world truly didn't matter once we heard his cry and saw his face. I wish Maya a swift delivery!

I've backread a few of your entries (I've been away from the intarwebs for too long) and just learned you wanted a girl. Aaron did too. I was having a quick ultrasound and Aaron wasn't there. The technician said something that made me realize "it" was a boy though we had wanted to find out the baby's sex together. I immediately called Aaron upon leaving the office and said as cheerily as I could muster, "You are going to have a son." His reaction:
"Really?" "Huh." "Well, shit."
When I asked him if he was happy he said he was, quite unconvincingly. He later told me that he was hoping for a girl because he didn't want to have a child that was a terror like he had been. I secretly wanted a girl, too, though I didn't want to admit that to myself that I actually had a preference. Now that our son is here, I couldn't be happier and actually feel foolish for not wanting a boy to start with. I hope you are pleasantly surprised by your son as well.
