It's been a while since Dan Shephard's been around this many people, but that's okay. He can deal with that. Reminds him of college, a little. The aliens're kind of a change of pace, but they seem like all right folks as far as he can tell, so hey, live and let live. Overall it's not too bad up here. It's not home, but it's not too bad

They're close to cracking the Aperture data. Alyx is sure of it. But if she stares at that screen full of code any longer, it'll result in permanent vision loss. Possibly due to her gouging her own eyes out with a fork.

Thus, Alyx is wandering the halls of White Forest. If someone asks, she's making her rounds to see if anyone needs assistance. That sounds a lot better than "wandering for its own sake."

"Dang," says a voice muffled by an old, salvaged sofa. "Where'd my hammer go? I didn't- oh."

That would be Dan poking his head out from behind the sofa to look for it. He comes to his feet and rights the sofa as best he can manage.

"Afternoon, Miss Vance. Dan Shephard- don't know if you'd remember me."

"The Marine's brother. I remember you." She quirks an eyebrow. "What are you doing?"

"Keepin' busy." Dan shrugs. "Doin' maintenance, mostly. This many people, this little space, stuff's bound to get broke."

His accent's along much the same lines as Adrian's, but the rough edges've been polished off, and he swallows far fewer of his consonants when he speaks. He's also a bit slower of speech than the younger Shephard.
