Sadly, I qualify in none of the above and have no ability to write any of the qualifying fandoms. What happened to Fringe? What happened to The X-Files?

Is there any chance you'll do Remix Madness again? I happily wrote three or four remixes for it the last year it was put on.

Sorry. We keep trying to make this clear, and apparently keep failing! The fandoms people are currently polling on are only ones we weren't sure about. Fringe will definitely be a qualifying fandom this year. X-Files hasn't been one for a while, due to matching difficulties. The full list of qualifying fandoms is now included in this post.

Remix madness will almost certainly be running again this year.

I think the question isn't so much 'why isn't the X-Files on the qualifying fandoms list' so much as 'why isn't it anywhere', since it had three people discussing their interest in seeing it included in the fandom suggestion post. Probably too late to do anything about that now, but I don't see how 'trouble matching' should be a barrier to seeing whether there is now more interest than there used to be.

I really am excited that y'all are running Remix again, though.

One more question about qualifying (sorry I keep bugging you guys).

I have an overarching "Five Times" style series; would individual stories that make up the series be counted as five or as one?

Not a mod, but it sounds to me as though your situation could only be decided on a case-by-case basis. The default in fandom (or, at least, all of the corners of fandom I've frequented) is to treat 5x fic as a single story. On the other hand, if you really truly think that in this particular case, the five sections should be considered standalone stories for whatever reason(s)--because they're very long or because they exist in separate universes (e.g. in 5 Things that Never Happened fic) or etc.--then that seems to me like your call

Another thorny remix problem that always comes up! It's pretty much as Jain says -- we rely on your judgment. If the stories in the series stand alone, then they can be counted separately. If understanding one story depends on understanding the series, then our preference is that you count it as one. And making the individual stories easy to find is essential.
