Is there going to be a madness round this year? Because I have to admit, I'm already in love with my recipient's whole body of work, and I'd love to write them more than one story!

All signs point to yes! I'd say "yes! Absolutely!" But life has been laughing hysterically at all my plans this month, so

I checked my junk folder, but I don't have an assignment.

Sorry about that. You've definitely got a match. I actually don't see a way to easily re-email you (short of defaulting and then reassigning you), but if you look under my assignments on AO3, it should show up there. Please let me know if it doesn't.

Oh, son of a gun, I found it. Gmail, in its infinite wisdom, decided that the message belonged in promotions. Sorry about that! I didn't even know that it HAD these subcategories.

Just to clarify - if the essential canon has a number of iterations, can I write a crossover with say 1 or all 21 of them despite the remix source story concerning only 1 of them?

Yeah, that's absolutely fine. Crossovers are only excluded when it comes to working out if people qualify to be remixed in a fandom. There's no issue with them when it comes to writing the remix.

I think this is ok, but just to check before I get overinvested in my choice--can we remix a story that has already been remixed?

You certainly can. I've done it in the past myself.

If the story we choose to remix is part of a series, are we supposed to remix just the single story or can we throw in elements from the rest of the series as well?

It's entirely up to you. You can fold in other elements of the series if you can make that work, but there's no requirement to. The single story is fine.
