Laura/Saul is my sekrit guilty pleasure pairing, because they'll never agree on anything except that it's All About Bill.
I'm with you! Saul is my very favorite character (with Laura and Bill tied for second), and I love his hidden depths, the loyalty he has to Bill, and the fact that he can be a kind and compassionate person...sometimes, sort of, in his own way. ;) (The Saul/Kara scene in the extended version of "Unfinished Business" made me tear up!)
I would love to read Saul/Laura stories, but...um, I can't find any. If you have recs, please let me know!
Again, I'm so glad you liked this! Thank you for reading.

Ohhh, that deleted scene. My partner-in-porn talked me into committing Saul/Kara with her because of that scene (and the one in "Torn" when they're drinking together and bitching about everything that sucked on New Caprica), and I just love how unexpectedly happy Saul was for her and Sam getting married.
God, I wish I had Saul/Laura recs for you, but I can't find any decently-written fics. It's half the reason I fangirled all over this - because you went there, even in a non-sexual way. If Em and I ever finish that Laura/Bill/Saul we've had sitting on our hard drives for, like, ever, I'll absolutely post it.
You're welcome!

God, yes! Then I disliked him with the martial law thing, alas, but something about New Caprica and the eyepatch made me fall head over heels.
his friendship with Bill has always been the one plot thread on BSG I never found fault with.
I love their friendship. Bill's meltdown when he finds out Saul is a Cylon is made of awesome, and I love that they're able to remain friends. I would also really not mind reading Bill/Saul slash, even though I read both of them as reasonably straight. But! "We were both drunk" works for me...

I'm with Laura, I used to think I didn't like Ellen, but she turned out to be so much more complicated than I ever realized.
Haha, I flat-out hated Ellen when she first appeared! But starting on New Caprica, and especially once she was revealed as the Fifth, I began to love her.
Laura's wig falling off, finding comfort from Saul Tigh of all people
That was one of the first images I had for this fic. (...Oddly, since it was a remix of a Bill/Laura story!) I wanted Laura with her wig off, snuggling with Tigh as he held her breast in an absolutely platonic way. There was something in the original fic about Bill cupping Laura's breasts through the tanks, and I thought, "Oh, what if those were someone else's tanks, and someone else's hands, and the mood was entirely different?"
(Tigh, of course, jumped at the chance to grope boobs.)
The wedding ring. Oh, my broken heart! After I wrote the Tigh scene, I asked my husband if it came across the way I wanted it to. (Read: not ( ... )

I loved the scene on Cloud 9 as well, just for the "how the rest of the Fleet lives" aspect. I'm finding myself wanting more and more of that, and that was fantastic.

I don't read much Laura fic, so I was kind of struck by the thought that she hates her own breasts, even as it's so right.
This was my first Laura fic--my second BSG fic ever; I'm new to the fandom--but I thought it seemed logical. In my experience, a lot of women have complicated feelings about their breasts anyway (too big, too small, can't find a bra that fits, and yet...), and I can only imagine how much harder it would be to be from a family of women who get breast cancer, and to have your own breasts be responsible for your death.
In fact, I heard a story of a woman whose mother, aunt, possibly sister, and grandmother all had breast cancer, who went in as a young woman and asked for a mastectomy. I think it would be a very difficult situation.
